How do you feel about Everyday Rewards/Big W rewarding you for shopping online and penalising you for shopping instore?

I noticed on the Everyday Rewards website that they are just about to change the terms and conditons regarding QFF points and Big W

"From July 10th, the number of Qantas points members earn when shopping at Big W will change. At Big W Online, members will earn 1 point for every dollar spent and in Big W stores, members will earn 1 point for every $2 dollar spent over $30. By continuing to use your card on or after July 10th - you will constitute deemed acceptance of the amended Terms of Use."

How do you feel about getting more points when shopping online and getting less points for shopping instore?

I rarely shop online. I guess I'm paranoid about personal details and things getting lost during delivery. I only use online grocery shoping when I can get the products cheaper online than instore. My other online purchases are for goods I can't get in-store.

Are other retailers giving customers more incentives for shopping online?

I don't like being treated as less important for shopping in-store rather than online.

First I've heard and I dont like it either, however I shop at coles because i like to know even if i spend only $10 Im still getting some points, where as at woolworths its only after $30.

    • Yes, I've always been annoyed at the $30 qualifcation spend. I make most of my small purchases at Coles as well.

Well that sucks, they are getting pretty stingy with their points. Makes me wonder if it's still worth having the card. Ta for the heads up OP, will have to go and have a look at the changes coming.

  • I don't care at all. I stopped using both Fly Buys and Woolworths Rewards ages ago because the meagre payoff is just not worth surrendering data on my personal shopping habits.

I often shop at BigW but rarely exceed the $30 threshold. The Qantas points are just not worth much at all to me, considering thousands are required to buy a $25 gift voucher.

BigW has gradually reduced the value of its bonuses. About 4 years ago they scrapped the 4c petrol discount voucher. Now they're winding back FPPs.

Woolworths' changes are just pushing me to do more shopping at Coles. No minimum threshold to gain points, regular double/triple point offers (I only buy staples so never fall into the trap of spending more to gain a few cents worth of points), and 1000 free points per month just by filling in a 5 minute survey.

It could just be a simple question of the cost to supply. It's way cheaper to sell stuff online than it is to have all your customers shop at an actual outlet (costs = rent/rates/staff/insurance etc. etc.).
