110

Found this is my local target. I assume other stores should have it too. Old game but still a good buy for $10

  • good price but black ops 2 is superior in all regards. I did 500hrs in mw3 and the 90fps cap and the overuse of mp7 are the biggest annoyances

      I like guns.

      • I like killstreak feeders :)

  • Bought last copy from my local Target, only to find the serial number had already been used. They had only bothered to take the disc out of the box on display, leaving the serial in there. Activision were unhelpful and just said return it, which I did.

    • Don't buy any games from target that need a code/dlc, I've seen assassins creed 3 dlc just placed infront of other covers

  • Which Target store? I remember purchasing this on PC for $10 as well just over 1 year ago at DSE.

    • Dick Smith reduced it even further to $5. But at the time there was extremely limited stock left. I was just lucky that so happened a store i was at had a copy left in stock i think it was the last one.

  • I bought this from Dick Smith about a year ago for like $5. It was after they had already slashed it at $10 but went down to $5 later on when i picked it up.

  • Do disc games still require steam?
Sorry :( haven't bought any physical discs in ages and I heard that it's difficult to get patches..

Although this COD MW3 is a physical disc copy but since it's a Steamworks game it still requires Steam to activate and install. You do need a Steam account for this game. I found the disc copy is useless now any way as Steam changed the way games install and since the COD MW3 disc was created long before then it won't actually install from the disc correctly. You need to install COD MW3 totally through download. But you do get a MW3 retail key with this to activate the game on Steam to download.

      • Thank you!!
        You are a legend!!

  • Sounds good, cheers OP!

  • Last time I tried playing multiplayer MW3 (about a year ago) I couldn't find a game. Is this still the case?

    • I can get online games most of the time. Well i did the last time i played it a few weeks ago.

  • Watch out for the huge 14gb & 2.2gb worth of updates when installing the game. Just go to the steam application download queue at the bottom of the page and set auto updates to disabled. Then you can cancel and restart installing the game again if you just want to quickly install and play the single player campaign. Without having to wait for the huge updates to download.

    • Yes it requires a huge download. A lot was updated and patched since the original disc release.

I doubt you'll be able to do multi-player until the updates are downloaded and installed.

      • The fact that it requires the huge multiplayer upldate before you can even play the game.

    • 14gb is huge? How cute. Most games are ~50gb now.

      • Depends on perspective. For some one on NBN or fast cable or ADSL2+ it may not be huge but for some one on dialup or slow wireless internet it is huge.
