eBay question. any body can answer plz?

Several questions regarding to ebay purchase after the crazy Sunday deal.

  1. If the item marked as Australia stock, but the item is actually ship from HongKong, can I raise Paypal Dispute?
  2. If I need to pay for the import duty when the item ship from HK but mark as Oz stock, can I claim money back somewhere?
  3. The item has list as Australia Post Express Post Parcel and Estimated delivery: Thu. 1 July. - Mon. 5 July, but I get the item longer than this time frame and found out it is not deliver by Aus Post Express, can I raise dispute?

If I have to, how can I raise dispute?

Thank you and really appreciate.

Before raising disputes, you should ALWAYS contact the seller first.

    • Thx Victor for your reply.
I am just asking if the stock is not same as what it has been described, what can I do? Contact seller can't change its property.

Ebay will have the original listing and it cant be changed, yes you can claim money back as they breached the agreement. As suggested above, contact seller, they might offer you some refund

You can only raise a dispute for Item Not Received, or for Item Significantly Not As Described.

Paypal dispute only relates to the ITEM.

      1. Maybe it is Australian stock but their warehouse is in Hong Kong.. haha. But if it really isn't local stock, you CAN raise the dispute since the item is "not as described", local stock vs import. And you probably can also say their description of the item is misleading and provides false information causing you actually making the purchase.

This is about an item you purchased yesterday? If so, and you discovered all these discrepancies yesterday after purchase, then as already suggested you're best off contacting the seller directly if you're not going to be happy with the item based on what you now know. Just ask them to cancel the transaction.

  • Not saying this is the case but I have found that some Chinese companies are actually stocking the items in Australia so they may actually then be posted from Australia … via Australia Post. But, if not, I would think it grounds for raising a dispute. Check and retain the postage if/when you receive the item in case you need to open a dispute with eBay and PayPal. Good idea to familiarise oneself with the dispute resolution process now. Often you will receive an email from these companies asking you to contact them first if anything does not meet your satisfaction, and then offer to set things to rights. I really don't think any import duty should be your responsibility … especially if they insist that it would be posted via Australia Post. Ring eBay now and get their advice on that one; seems all rather peculiar to me. Good luck but I don't think you should need that.

You can only raise a dispute if the item is not as described - ie if the listing says that it is metal and it is plastic, if it says it is 40cm and it is 30cm, if it says it is a size 14 and it is a size 8. For all of these, you have to wait until the item actually arrives and then you contact the seller first, and if you cant resolve the problem then you lodge a dispute with paypal (from the dropdown menu in your purchase history section). In these cases, paypal would insist that you return the item first (showing proof of posting - which if sending overseas is often worth more than the item itself). If you have paid the extra postage to get Express Post and it does not come this way, you can then lodge a dispute the same way to get part of the postage cost back - (although Express Post should be with you in way less than the time stated, normally only takes 2-3 days depending on where you live and where the item is sent from. Normally if you get it by the time stated (which you agreed to by purchasing the item) you have no cause to complain. If it is dropshipped from Hong Kong all you can do is report it to Ebay (not that they really care anyway, but they may tell him bad boy dont do it again) but usually they would just say they were out of stock in Australia so sent direct from Hong Kong. As far as import duty goes - unless the item costs more than $1000, there wont be any import duty. Items dropshipped from overseas are often marked as "gift" or "sample" and I have never once been charged any import duty, they just rock up in the mail. Wait until the item arrives and see if you are happy and then go from there.
