The additional iPod Direct feature lets you control your iPod or iPhone from the dashboard of your car.
Equipped with 1A USB, we’ve upped the power handling capability on the DEH-4550BTBT, so you can connect and play music from more USB devices, such as tablets and HDD. You can also charge your phone faster.

  I bought this model 5 months ago, currently with pioneer as the unit looses memory at random.
  Was told by the tech this model does this..
  Annoying known issue and annoying repair time 2-3weeks but when it works its a tidy unit.

  NOTE: Android media control is only supported on v3.2 or earlier software. Considering this device was released around October 2012. Looks like there every day price on the Pioneeer for this older generation model. Same as it was 7 months ago.

  I would recommend spending a bit more and get the newer DEH-X4650BT 2014 model.

  Do they have any models with an SD slot? USB is great and all but having something sticking out begging to be broken off thus probably damaging the port as well isn't ideal, an SD slot would be a great addition.

    Here's all the car stereo head units with an SD slot that they sell. Have a look through that. Although if you must have Pioneer then the Pioneer DEH-X9550BT model they have has an SD slot but is $279. It's the one at the bottom of the list.

    Most of the time installation cost about buying a full head unit itself, though better do a bit of ask around see whomever can do the cheapest. I just bought Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB from Jbs and installation is almost the same cost for the head unit itself! Unless if you can find a mate who can do it for less.
