1.2m untreated wooden planks for garden box

Does anybody know where I could get some free around 1.2m untreated wooden planks for garden boxes such as this:

I don't mind buying from Bunnings etc. but am trying to be sustainable in the first instance. Cheers

  • In better homes and gardens the guy drives around and finds suitable furniture/wood at Garage sales. He then sanded off the paint and sawed it to perfect planks. My untreated timber is rotting away. Next time I am going for timber designed to last.

  • Check Bunnings for free pallets? They chuck them away, might need a bit of work to make them look nice, but it's free at least.

If you're buying pine, it's not unsustainable in the first place, because it grows fairly rapidly, but that's really splitting hairs, because I know what you mean.

If you want free you're either going to have to either try freecycle or the pallets previously suggested. Untreated pine is really going to last only a short time though. Would you consider using besser blocks, perhaps? Or perhaps see if you can get hold of some old railway sleepers.
