  • Also found a good deal on a printer/scanner that i bought yesterday from officeworks, Its a HP Deskjet 2540 with WiFi (connected it to my android phone) On sale until the end of this month for $39 (normally $69)

  • Pity it doesn't have fax or a document feeder. I bought the HP Officejet 6600 from OW for $99. Now that's a better printer.

  • Any idea why Google doesn't list it as a supported printer? https://www.google.com/cloudprint/learn/printers.html#info-c…

I'm pretty keen to be able to use cloud print

(edit.. never mind.. I see there is an option to setup 'other' printers so sure this'll work)

  • I'm trying to find a cheap wifi laser printer, but should I buy this instead? the toner is cheaper for laser than inkjet right?

    • Depends. I can buy the Calidad 4 colour cartridge compatible ink set (black 1000 page and colour cartridges 825 pages each) for my HP Officejet 6600 from OW for $100. Can you get a set of 4 colour laser toners for $100?.

  • Will these cartridges clog up if the printer is used only every few weeks?
I always remember my old Epson where I would manage only 2-3 prints out of a cartridge.

    • Your Epson was obviously dodgy. Maybe there was a flaw in the way that printer injected ink and leaked. That shouldn't happen with the other branded printers. I mean there was obviously some thing faulty in the printer if you could only get 2-3 printouts from the cartridge. Leaking ink perhaps. Heck i would have thrown that printer in the bin where it belonged.

You won't have any problems with this PIXMA MG5560 even if you only print out a few times every few weeks or so. I can't see why not. Not unless the printer is faulty and starts massively leaking ink which it shouldn't.

I haven't been using my HP Officejet 6600 very often at the moment maybe twice a week at most and it's going along strong. Still on the original starter cartridges.

      • My Epson used up the whole tank of ink in doing its prep stuff and head cleaning 5 times.
6 new ink tanks and 3 are empty before heads are cleaned to start printing.

        • Wow that's shocking.

  • Guys,

There is a cash back for this printer - from $10 to $500 guaranteed depending on your luck..https://store.canon.com.au/en/Offers/PIXMA-WIN

    • Not bad. You could buy this printer for $79 and win $500 back pocketing $421 profit if you're extremely lucky. Worst case scenario you get $10 back and have a printer that ended up costing $69.

  • These printers are becoming cheaper than the ink refill cartridges

    • Buy compatible cartridges they're cheaper than the genuine originals.
