Want to shop at Amazon and wonder how can I check if an item can be sent to Australia?

Have never used Amazon but have seen some great deals come and go. Was wanting to look for a laptop and wonder how can I tell if the item can be sent to me in Sydney?

there should be a tick box "AmazonGlobalEligible" it will display items that can be exported.
Australia will be fine for all items once you tick that box

  • add to the basket and checkout before payment and it will advice you…

  • I have done that added to the cart, and found out will not ship, but do not want to do that with every item very time consuming, and just wondered if there is a quicker way, I will look for the AmazonGlobalEigible tick box thanks

i've always used this link http://www.amazon.com/International-Shipping-Direct/b?node=2… and then it has an "international shipping" search category which it uses.

  • can not seem to find any computers that will ship to Australia :-( am sure I have seen deals posted here?? how do I do it thanks

Amazon changes their shipping policies every now and then so items that used to feature on OzBargain a while ago might not be able to deliver to Australia now. For example Seiki SE39UY04 4k TV and Acer C720 Chomebook — neither can be shipped to Australia at the moment.

So it's pretty much still trial and error, or use a mail forwarder like Shipito.

  • thanks Scotty, is it worth using a mail forwarder? do not know much about them? thanks

    • is it worth using a mail forwarder?

it can be where the savings are considerable. e.g. Neato XV-21 previously wasn't shipped by Amazon (but now is) and was US$340ish plus mail forwarder (e.g. shipito) was US$80. so US$420 delivered.

      local price $600ish (DJs).

      so about $150 savings.

do not know much about them?

firstly - get a quote from the forwarder first - have a look at the item on Amazon and it will have dimension and weight of the product - and using those figures in the shipping quote function on the forwarders website you get an idea of what it will cost to ship. go with the cheapest. but remember they each have other costs i.e. there is usually a small membership fee (usually refunded) and then a handling charge and of course the cost of the postage to Aus.

basically you register with a mail forwarder (i've used shipito in the past -there is a wiki on ozbargain about forwarders). You get an account/PO Box number and the address of the forwarder. You buy your stuff on amazon and provide those details to Amazon. The forwarder receives the goods addressed to you at their address and then on ships it.

      pretty straight forward.

  • thanks that was very helpful
