Probably a really stupid post in the wrong area, but would anyone know where to purchase iron ore from in non industrial quantities?? Im talking maybe 20-50kg. I have no reason for wanting it other than its medieval month on Foxtel and I reckon if they could smelt iron in the middle ages, I can too. But then again, at least the guys in the middle ages could find iron ore…..

why not just smelt some scrap materials? like aluminium or copper?
You'll have just as much fun, and it will be easier to acquire materials
I've seen some pretty cool videos on Youtube from people melting down aluminium cans then pouring it into ants nests. It produces pretty cool sculptures.

Yes.. or some other reactant to "burn" off the Oxygen Atoms bound to the Iron.
And a furnace that runs really hot. Don't think I can do that in my apartment.
