MyUS freightforwarding, now in the business of not consolidating.

Anyone seen the new conditions for MyUS forwarding to Australia?

Are there any special considerations when shipping to Australia?
|
Yes. There are two important considerations to keep in mind when shipping to Australia:

  1. We must have record of the seller’s name and address before we can export any package to Australia. In most cases, this information is included on the merchant invoice included with your package. If the merchant does not include an invoice, or if the invoice does not list the seller’s name and address, your shipment may experience a delay while we collect this information.

  2. Due to Australian Customs regulations, we cannot ship consolidated packages to Australia via FedEx if the value of the merchandise in those packages is less than $1,000 USD. Instead, we will use an alternative courier to deliver low-value consolidated packages to your door.

Please note that we can ship packages valued at more than $1,000 USD via FedEx to Australia, even if it is consolidated. This restriction only affects shipments that meet the following conditions:

• The shipment contains merchandise from more than one seller, AND
• The value of the shipment is less than $1,000 USD.

If you submit a ship request that meets these criteria, we will automatically ship your package via the appropriate courier.

I currently have 3 packages with them with no seller addresses that I can't ship until they sort through it. They don't even have a method to input the seller address either. Last time I had a few packages with no declared value and needed them to ok the invoice. The time before that I tried to buy a coat with some tiny bit of fur trim and that got held up for close to a week with no reply from customer service and eventually ended up being refunded to the seller.

Seriously, why bother with these guys anymore? They used to be so straightforward to use, now it feels like I've got to jump through hoops to pay them. What is a good alternative that is responsive and actually cares about shipping stuff out to you without ridiculous paperwork?

  • When did these new conditions come into being? It only applies to Fedex though. I prefer DHL and in my case, DHL was always the cheapest option

  • Why can't they ship packages LESS than $1000 via FedEx if they are consolidated?

  • No idea. Anyone got an alternative?

    • +1

Shipito are quite reliable. I've since cancelled myus.com and subscribed for a year with shipto and so far, so good.

  • I requested shipment 2+ days ago and it's still sitting around in my outbox. These guys are just getting worse and worse. I don't think I'll use then again after this disappointment.

  • Update:

I am receiving my parcel in 3 pieces, with a hugely inflated shipping cost, with one piece still not having arrived. I requested shipping on 15/6, did not get processed until 18/6, and was led into thinking that everything would be put into one box. Clearly not. I had one box that was 500 tongue depressors which I bought for work, just because I thought it would be convenient; clearly not. Have sent a complaint via their feedback form. Will probably jump ship after this.

I am very disappointed with your services this time around. My last shipment with you guys has been nothing but a headache and a ridiculous rip off. My shipment much slower than previously, in terms of both shipping time and processing time and instead of being consolidated as one package, as I authorised, I have received 2 packages, am still awaiting one more package, at a cost far above what I thought was the total shipping cost as estimated by your service. Instead I have 3 charges of 20.44, 32.51 and 79.97 USD, which absolutely defeats the purpose of using your service to "consolidate" my packages. In fact the charge of $32.51 was for a box of tongue depressors, which weigh 3.1lbs, which cost $8.97 initially to buy from Amazon. I think that makes them the most insanely expensive tongue depressors in the world. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011Z82YO/ref=oh_details_o…
I expect a refund for this farce.

Are you guys serious? If this is your business model going forward, I am having trouble finding anything to parcel forward in the future, not to mention that I have lost trust for your company being anything other than dishonest.

I am very, very unimpressed with the level of service and management this time. If this is not resolved, expect unfavourable reviews of your service to friends and on the internet very soon. I expect a response from you as soon as possible.

  • I just had a very similar experience with myUS. Up until now, the service has been great. The latest package sent was half the size and weight but twice as much as previous packages sent to me last year. They took forever to respond to my emails and I had to resort to posting on their facebook page to get someone to address my query. I've since requested to cancel my account and rejoined shipito, had it not been for the Amex offer, I would not have even bothered with these guys.

  • Read between the lines people. FedEx are throwing a tantrum about the new Australian Customs regulations.
It is the new Australian Customs regulations that are causing parcel forwarding companies and couriers to jump through hoops. FedEx is not the only courier company in the world. Australian Customs now wants the name and contact details of the seller or vendor to make it easier for them to confirm the selling price of the item.An invoice from the seller providing contact details and the price, can be a problem if the seller is in China, with a US website/phone number only. I have had to jump through hoops myself to obtain two invoices. The copy of the invoice can be uploaded to the parcel forwarder's website through the account section or attached to an email. The magical figure of $1000.00 is to do with preparations to charge the GST on items bought online that are less than $1000.00 and/or consolidated into one parcel. At this time, the Federal government is also applying pressure to state premiers to ask for the GST to be increased. People such as Gerry Harvey have been demanding for some time that the GST be imposed on imported goods under $1000.00. It should not surprise anyone that Australian Customs are ready to impose the GST on imports under $1000.00 when asked to do so. This jumping through hoops is upsetting for all parcel forwarding companies, and couriers and customers in Australia. Myus.com offers more than one courier choice, and I assume that the others do also. I see these issues becoming a problem regardless of which parcel forwarder you choose, as sending stuff to Australia is going to become a tedious procedure.
