Does anyone have a fair idea of the amount of data required to stream e.g. a full football match (100 minutes)? Because I don't have a TV, the only way to get SBS's coverage of the FIFA World Cup is to stream it live via computer. But I need to consider the usage since I'm sharing the ISP with several other people.

Consider picking up an old set top box with HDMI or DVI output to convert a monitor into a TV.. or a usb TV tuner stick if you only have a laptop and no standalone monitor…
Far more reliable than Streaming which could go down if the server can't cope!

How much bandwidth does playing a video use?
Watching videos on the SBS network consumes data, and as such you should take your data quota from your ISP or mobile provider into consideration. This is the amount of data that your ISP or mobile phone company allows you to download each month at no extra cost. Should you exceed this quota, you may need to pay for extra costs, or your internet speed might be shaped to a lower speed. Prior to using the SBS On Demand video service, SBS recommends that you confirm with your ISP or mobile phone provider what your data quota is, as well as what the costs are for exceeding this quota. It is important that you monitor your usage to ensure that you don't exceed your limit. Please find below an approximate guide as to how much data could be consumed watching a SBS On Demand video. This assumes watching at the highest quality, where data consumption is highest, and assumes that no data has been consumed other than via watching the video:
60 minute video - up to 675MB of data
30 minute video - up to 340MB of data
10 minute video - up to 115MB of data
5 minute video - up to 50MB of data
