  Pretty dismal 2.4Ghz range, crappy 802.11n performance, no coaxial antenna socket, kid-glove modem GUI.

  Better off with a Billion 8800AXL, TP-Link Archer D7, Netgear R7000, Asus RT-AC68 or D-Link DSL-2890A.

  Spending the middle-of-the-road amount in the modem world doesn't give you your money's worth. Either go cheap and cheerful or high-end all the way.

      I think you might be referring to the last models in the 7800 series (7800X/NX/DX/DXL), which are all lower-end and certainly won't be featuring 802.11ac support; but as far as I can see from Googling, they're already out, though the original ETA was June 24th.

      As far as I know the 8000 series is the latest generation (which supports 802.11ac); of which the 8800AXL and the 8800NL (UK Modem) are the only members currently available.

      Given the 7800 series is still in production and selling quite well (7800NXL/DXL/VDOX), I think it's going to be some time before Billion finalises the road map and line-up of their next generation.

      The model differentiation/naming system will probably take after the 7000 series, so this 8800AXL is somewhere in the middle I'm assuming and the higher-end models will have quadruple-letter suffixes.

      Edit: You could be onto something JV. Seems there's a revised 8800AXL planned for the launch in end of June, as problems with a defective batch of modems have been identified (though it doesn't apply to every 8800AXL).

  I have a belkin n300 and all I can say is don't buy a belkin modem or router

  Belkin made good stuff but not modems

    I was going to say that as well; every Belkin modem I've owned has been a hair-pulling experience (especially the universally-hated iiBelkins), and everyone I've known with a Belkin modem has said the same.
