Samsung to launch first foldable tablet in 2015

What do you guys think? Will apple follow up with such a design? Or it's gonna be patented so no one else can make it?

Samsung reportedly showed off a bendable tablet prototype behind closed doors at Mobile World Congress this year, and now, according to a report from the Korean media, Samsung might be aiming for a commercial launch of a folding tablet in 2015. According to the report, the tablet will feature an 8 to 9-inch full HD OLED display that can convert into a much smaller smartphone-sized form factor by being folded??twice. That’s naturally quite a far-fetched idea judging by the technology that is available today, but numerous reports of Samsung getting closer to a real foldable product indicate that things could change radically in the months to come.

As is always the case with such devices, the folding tablet will likely be launched in limited quantities, and at a high price that would take it out of reach for most. Still, with innovation having come to a grinding halt in terms of form factor (phones have largely looked the same for a few years now, except for short departures like the Galaxy Round with its curved display), a folding tablet is something we would love to see, even if we won’t be able to buy it for months after it makes a public appearance.

Apple will definitely come out with their own version, even if it is patented. After all Samsung and Apple are in patented battles and both sides have lost at least once… If they do bring out their own version it will take some time since Apple doesn't like to confuse consumers with huge changes unless it is necessary (e.g windows 7 and windows 8).
