Ergonomic Chairs

Anyone know of a good place to buy ergonomic chairs? Not prepared to spend a grand on Herman Miller so limiting the budget to under $500. Preferably a physical shop to try to things out.

I sat on the "Rioli Ergonomic Chair" at Officeworks and quite like it, but for $499 I figure other shops may have similar chairs for less or better chairs at the same price.

I had a look at Kogan's milandirect but nothing in particular stands out, also not able to try and $55 delivery is not very encouraging.

Costco has a "Space Task Chair", not exactly ergonomic but comfortable enough, but not impressed by the price hike from $240 something to $299 in 2 months.

So, looking forward to hear your suggestions. I'm in Sydney by the way. Cheers!

If you're interested in an Aeron and can wait, keep an eye on ebay. I got mine for $280, and one for work for $580.

I love the mesh - no sweaty asscrack in summer!

    I have Versa ergonomic chair:

It's quite comfortable and from what I read, quite ergonomic. Nearly everything is adjustable and it's mesh.

However, if you can get a used Aeron for that cheap I'd go for it!

It's probably best to look at office supply stores that sell direct to public. Officeworks etc probably don't have the best quality to price ratio.

  • Hi there,

i suggest you forget about the shitty Quality at officeworks and buy the most purchased and favored chair at that price point. Even a lot of people prefer these to the Hm chairs such as the aeron, mirra 1+2 and Embody Sayl Setu ranges.

The chair I would most definitely purchase if I was spending $500 or so is the Ergohuman Range. Top Quality, Built to last, 10 year warranty and more Ergonomic and better adjustments than the Herman Miller range. And they are Extremely Comfortable. i suggest you go to a store like ProgressiveFurniture.com.au and OfficeFurnitureDirect.com.au and see them in Person and try them out for 20-30mins or so.

These are the range id check out

$629 with Choice of color wow Cheap lol. Blue?green?Red?Black (I remember looking for Colored Options lol. Couldn't find them anywhere

Id buy a Color version if i were you. Failing that try a Sayle HM chair?
also Living Edge have another Herman Miller Sale currently in Richmond Melbourne.
Id stay Clear of Mojo Direct and there KingPin Range, Ergonomic My ass

The thing is if you buy the officeworks chair even though it looks ok and feels ok keep in mind those chairs will have many problems including back pain, Fatigue herniated disk due to so called Ergonomic Standard. The warranty are not worth the paper there on. Thats why people buy high quality chairs Buy one. get 8-10years out of it including full Replacement/Repair or Money back Warranties. if you are like me and have Extreme Chronic Low back pain among other things or a really Shitty Posture id buy the herman Miller Mirra 2 or Sayle. But the Ergohuman Range is very highly regarded among the world, there would be more places with them than herman Miller chairs.

I have had a Ergohuman and they are quite good. Now i have the Mirra 2 (best chair i could find) Aeron sucks to uncomfortable, No Circulation, painful, crappy back support… Embody is nice also but to damn expensive xD

  • Thanks for all the details, much appreciated.

I did not know about Ergohuman but will look into it. Any particular reason to get a colour version of the chair?

You are right about Living Edge, they have 15% off on home office at the moment: http://livingedge.com.au/shop/213-home-office-sale-15-off, sweet deals but still expensive. (It seems not everything is on sale, only the ones with a tick.)
