it has a few small dents in it but nothing drastic and rego until august 23rd.

does anyone know how much could I sell it for?

    $500

it's an 18 year old car.

Advertise it for $1000 and go from there.

As ilost notes, it's nearly 20 years old… given that it is not even in cosmetically good condition ('has dints'), you'll get almost nothing for it, cause there's so many cheap cars for sale in Australia. Macy is pretty close to the mark I'm afraid. Cash in your rego, if the tires are good/newish let a friend swap them over for their unroadworthy/crap tires, if the jack is in good nick give that to a friend who has no jack, like-wise with the spare tire, and if you happen to know anyone else with the same type of car ask them if they want anything from it before you ditch it. When you've done all that, ring up one of those dudes who come and get the car for you and give you $100. Don't forget to drain out the petrol first/ chuck that in a mates car.
Don't give it to a young person to go 'bush-bashing' in, if they request it… this has led to tragedy in my personal experience.

An Australian moving to NZ!! inconceivable

I bought an EA Falcon Wagon on gas for $1000 a few years ago from a guy who was also moving to NZ
Took it in for an RWC inspection and they laughed at me there was so much that had to be done to it…

So I never sent in the transfer papers. Nigel was back in NZ and I was driving his car. No tolls, no parking fines, no speeding fines… the only thing I had to worry about was it being towed. I'd never find it.

When the Rego was due, I logged onto the RTA website and used the transfer notice (Name, birth date, licence number) to change his address online to a mate's place… rang up and asked for a new sticker to be sent out as I'd moved… and then changed it back a week later.

All went off without a hitch, except my mate ended up with a couple of hundred envelopes chasing the mythical Nigel. I took that car around Australia until it finally got too expensive to keep maintaining it.

Left it out the front of the house for a month, and a neighbour knocked on my door and asked if he could steal it. Told him if it wasn't there in the morning I'd be happy with that.

I do not think anyone wants to buy it from you. How about just kind enough to give it free to an overseas uni student and ask him to pay for whatever cost that will occur for the road warranty certificate.Cheers.
