Thoughts on Jeenee Mobile? 4G plan for $25 per month and 1.5gb data looks amazing

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts/experiences are with Jeenee mobile?
http://www.jeenee.org.au/sim-packs

In particular the 4G $25 medium plan looks great. We are a couple so we'd both move on to it and make the most of the free jeenee-jeenee calls. Are there any other 4G plans with 1.5gb data and free calls to partners at a similar price point? Any catches with Jeenee as the value looks very good to me!

Cheers

  • looks ok its on the optus network a $20 setup fee aswell

    • Got a link to anything similarly priced on the Telstra 4G network? I'm not prepared to pay $10-15 more per month ($20-30 more for two plans as my partner will move too) for similar specs as I spend 95%+ of my time in metro areas.

      • Telechoice is the closest but you need to go on a 12 month contract and lose some data

  • Optus 4g in western-eastern Sydney is not that great.
I would go with more data with 3g over optus 4g with less data.
In saying that, it still looks like good value for $25.

Just look at the fine print though. $95 for 3 months = ~$31.50 per month, then afterwards it is $25 per month (I hope, you should check if you have to sign up for another 3 months…).

    • Optus are investing big $$ in their 4G network over the next 1-2 years to better compete with Telstra.
Reading the fine print, the $20 is just a one off charge for the SIM pack and after that it's $25 per month. I can't find too much better than this for a similar price on the Optus 4G network.

      • Yeah but thats something that is yet to happen and if it were me I wouldn't base a purchase decision on that information.

Have you looked at Vaya? $19 /month runs on Optus 4G network which is quite good around Sydney Metro area.

    • But data is billed per MB. Big turn-off for many of us.

  • Just be careful of excess data usage: $256 per gigabyte!

Optus charge me $10 per gigabyte excess

The Critical info summary says that they cut you off at 100% data usage, that's good enough for me

        Really?

        All I see is this:

        DATA USAGE
Data will be counted in kilobytes, and includes both uploads and
downloads. After you’ve used your included data allowance, each
megabyte of excess data within Australia costs $0.25/MB.

  • Looks good, but no option to call international.

  • ++ for Vaya. We have all the mobiles in the house on Vaya now, same 1.5GB/month data allowance, more calls, cheaper.
++ for comments on Optus 4G. Seems to run fine most places I have tried and like a blur in some places.

    • I tried Vaya and it was awful. 4g was slower than my 3g (I still had my old phone and plan) and they kept cutting me off for no reason with awful customer support. Then they tried to charge me a cancelation fee, despite it being plastered over their website that there isn't one. Ombudsman agreed with me. My experience is far from uncommon with them too.

I am on the $25 plan and got slugged for $87 in my first bill. This was for going over my data allowance and I was charged 25 cents/Mb!!! My understanding was that when I reached my 1.5Gb limit my service would be restricted, which is fine…a bit of a safety net. The kick in the guts from these clowns comes when they tell you there is a 48hr lag in reporting your data usage. I was stupid for not considering their ridiculous extra data charge when I signed up…25 cents/Mb!!! Yatango charge 5 cents, Vaya charge 4 cents! It serves their financial gain to have this stupid 48hr lag in usage updates or Optus is trying to screw the competition with bad service and customer complaints. Well it worked!! I'll be leaving these bloodsuckers to sign up elsewhere. BEWARE if you go over your data allowance!! Read the fine print.

    • Is this the first you have been on some sort of plan? There are always extra charges if you go over so the idea is to never go over.
I can't name any phone companies atm that i can think of that just cut your data by default if you hit the limit unless its a prepaid.
Companies like this always have some sort of 24-48 hours delay with your usage. Just work your way around it and monitor your usage so you can get the cost benefit.
If you have an android phone (ICS 4.0+) SET a Limit in the settings, its easy. I think iPhones now have this as well (although a bit late).
Always do your research and read the terms and conditions if you don't have a good understanding of what they are offering.
I've been with Exetel for over 2 years with a similar plan to this but only Optus 3G. I have never paid more than my usual $15 as I monitor my usage as I go and have set warnings and limits.
This looks like a good plan for the price although Spintel is slightly better with my usage being around 2GB and less need on calls and txt.

Has anyone checked out the spintel pick your own plan?be good to hear from anyone who has tried them, looks to good to be true, example is if you pick your plan and include 1.5gb data and if you reach your 1.5gb they automatically bump you up to the 2.5gb as part of your plan and it costs $3 for the extra 1gb data and you can do that with your sms and calls also once you reach your limit and the most it will cost you for the month is $35 if you are bumped up to all of the unlimited plan, cheap as chips,no contract but initially you have to stay for 2 months as they require 30 days notice in writing via email, bump ups don't cost anything and you can change your plan every month if you want at no cost, and by the way anyone thinking of going to vaya i'd think about that very seriously as they are burglers,I just left them after repeated BAD experiences but I left by way of the Ombudsman am as happy as Larry now i'm out of their clutches, spintels call rate say if your on the 500min aspart of your plan a 2 minute call is 3.6 cents YES 3.6 cents takes a bit of beating that rate, only thing is it costs $25 upfront for sim and postage,so if you pick a plan with 1.5gb data-100textand 250 minutes of calls it will cost you $25 for sim and post plus $23 for the plan for your first month,i'm going to give it a go next month, but would like to hear from someone first who has had experience with them, they get bad reviews about their adsl service but this isn't adsl

  • Hi again forgot to mention in my previous comment that spintel is on the optus 4g network

  • Voda is on the vodafone 4g net and with unmetered net is amazing. Overcharge=null. FEB/15
