Might just be a broken wire(interally). Cut and rejoin at the break.
(As long as you are talking about the speaker cables, not the 240V cable from the power point).
z5500 has a bigger sub, more functions on the control unit they sound the same except more bass on the z5500. Spring clampy connections are common on cheap/small units not much difference soundwise to using plugs.
Is it better then the z5500?
Well that's only the 10 millionth time that question's been asked.
This is about as comprehensive of a comparison as you'll find. A complete dissection of the internals of both systems.
The Z5500 is unquestionably of a higher build-quality because it comes from Logitech's pre-rampant-cost-cutting era and louder by virtue of it's larger 10" woofer; but beyond that they're really as near as makes no difference (as you'll see in the link the satellites have not changed between the models; what has is the subwoofer, amp and internal circuitry and given that the satellites having no tweeters, rely on the one driver to produce the entire frequency range, that still makes them rather bad for music as the highs & mids just aren't there).
I have the Z906s currently and did used to have Z5500s.
Also what is with them having the barewire plugs still for the speakers, is for audiofiles a reason over using a proper plug? They are bloody annoying.
You mean spring-clip terminals?
They're cheaper to manufacture and the amp in the Z906 doesn't drive a huge amount of current. Also the bundled 18-gauge speaker wires are sufficient for the satellites as they don't draw that much power (this isn't audiophile-grade home theatre equipment we're talking about).
Thanks, just ordered one OP. Anyone know how long I should expect to wait for DSE delivery?
