110

For $2.49 USD this game is worth it. It is currently free to try, install it and give it a go to see as to whether it's for your tastes. I believe it's similar to HearthStone This game has seemingly inspired HearthStone.

Check it out if you're interested.

  • Its a fun game, I bought the 2013 one on steam for like 10 bucks so this is a really good price. Just know that you will need to play lots of games to unlock cards for your decks. I am not sure if the "DLCs" add additional decks or unlock cards or both.

Also search for unlock codes on the net to unlock some cards too :)

    Magic: The Gathering.

The original card game is potentially one of the most well known card games for the hardcore geek.

p.s. Hearthstone is like Magic. Not the other way around!

  • Got this game, it's pretty good fun. But there are many bugs and the game seems to be poorly optimised. Hope they actually have QA in 2015.

  • So I buy it and I have ALL the cards ever issued to build my own deck and play it against computer or against other players online?

Or are there in-game purchases like booster packs, extra cards and I can only play online? Or the decks are preset?

When you beat an opponent, you get their deck.
Every win you get with a deck unlocks a bonus card.
You can verse opponents online, and there is a mode where you open booster packs and construct a deck

      • How cool is that. Thanks.

No skirmish against the AI however?

Yeah you can verse the AI in a few different modes.
The steam game doesn't have every card ever created, its just a selection from the past few years.

Not really. If this game is anything like previous versions, you get cards in the core set e.g. M14, and whatever expansion is associated with it i.e. Born of the Gods, Nyx, etc. This is a good thing because 'standard' format limits cards to the most recent handful of sets unlike modern which is… a LOT more and is almost completely impenetrable to new players.

Plus you need to beat NPCs to win them, and you don't have total control over deck-building, you have templates and shuffle around some peripheral cards.

Yes to in-game purchases though I think they were limited to 'exclusive' decks, vanity backs, etc.

The 4.99 Gold edition has all the decks (base + expansion and 3 deck packs)… the decks are not complete though… the additional cards are unlocked when you win matches with those decks (vs AI or people)… You can unlock all the extra cards by playing the game though.

The $8.74 gold complete edition has all the cards unlocked (you may still have to play the campaign to unlock each deck tho)

  • Are there limited formats or is it all constructed?
