For people who got the Turtle Beach XP510 from COTD recently

I've pretty happy with the Turtle Beach XP510 headset I got from COTD recently, but one thing really annoys me. It auto shuts down while there is sound coming through. It is not sensitive enough and extremely annoying to have to switch it back on manually while playing a game.

Does any one else on OzBargain experienced this, or just me?

Reading the manual, as well as contacting Turtle Beach support, says that the headset is supposed to issue an imminent auto shut down prior to the actual shut down, but my headset does not do this. Reading user reviews on Amazon also seems to indicate that other users do no get the auto shut down warning either. I have updated the headset to the latest firmware as well.

Also bought the unit. I too often get the shutdown without warning, as well as occasionally a shutdown with a warning.

Haven't worked out a fix either. I'm using it by optical input, not bluetooth.

    • Thank you for your response. It is very interesting that you managed to get the warning on some occasions. I have never had the warning on my headset. Did you update to the latest firmware, or just using the unit out of the box? Do you recall in what situation the warning was issued? Apologies for all the questions…

  • Haven't had any auto shut down issues but I sometimes get a buzzing sound that persists till I turn it off and on again. Maybe it's interference from my 5GHz wifi but I can't find the specific band it operates on so can't really point out the issue.

  • Yep, I have the same issue. I updated the firmware to the latest and all - no difference.

Reply from Turtle Beach support was basically "turn your output volume on the PC all the way up, and manage the volume on the headset".

Annoying, but it did work well enough. At least now it doesn't shut off in the middle of watching a video or playing a game…
