No, it is never worth buying a TV from Dick Smith. Just get a Samsung, they are cheap enough, and much better than a dicksmith China rebadge special.
Go in store to compare the screen quality. When I was instore, I saw a big difference between the Dick Smith/Palsonic compared to more reputable brands like LG, Sony etc.
There is a difference for the extra cost with "some" of the known brands. It's up to you if you want to pay the extra … For longevity and performance over the long term it is better to pay a few $ more for LG or Hisense etc.
With smaller sets say under 32" then it is not such a worry.
I was looking at and comparing ~32" tv btw, they had Samsung etc next to DSE tvs. With movies putting so much effort and details, it would be wasted if watched on these crap quality screens.
Local quality, Export price.
Pretty cheap for a 55".
I was looking for a big TV recently…ended up getting the samsung UHD 55" for less than the 55" FHD @ JB. Was the 2013 UHD model vs the 2014 FHD…but still…who wants a curved screen? Would look rubbish hanging on a wall.
The website says it has 2 or 3 HDMI ports depending on if you look at the Overview or Specs tab. Hopefully there is another 12% code before the price expires.
