I stumbled this freebie as I browse for this party game in Nintendo eshop. Not sure when it started or will finish but was available last night.
I am sure many people purchased the console from Target or price matched from Eb. This maybe of interest to you.

But I think you'll have to download it from the console anyway since there's no way to purchase/download it online.

Fun game, not worth full price though. I downloaded and bought 1 of the DLC when it went FTP ages ago. Decent little time killer it is.

this has always been free but if you don't download any DLC then you can only play 3 times a day, not free IMHO or a bargain
Yup, this is true..and if you get all the DLCs, it will cost more than a physical copy when it is on sale.
So this isn't for the FULL version then?
No it's not the full version..you get 1 level that you can play 3 times per day and they have 1 DLC for every unlockable content which is all included in the physical copy (I think the cheapest I've seen was during the 2 for $20 deal at EB games)
This is free to play, not free, and has been for over a year. And will always be.
Glad I bought the physical copy then…
Physical copy for $30 was a good deal.
