  • Thanks got some other free games also! Anything we need to do in particular to keep the games? I just signed up to a US PSN account when I purchased them on my PC

  • Do I need to make a US account to get it? My AU account won't let me.

    • Yes, just create a new user with a US account.

      • Thanks

      • Which was a state that doesn't have the taxes? Does it matter for digital anyway?

          What is 10% of $0?

        • +1

I was thinking more long term. US PSN apparently has the best deals and biggest discounts, so for future purchases.

        • -1

          Nevada

        • Don't think it matters, i have been using california and haven't had additional taxes levied on my numerous digital purchases thus far.

        • +2

it does matter, don't get stung.

        • +2

Ignore Mattapie above, Nevada does have a sales tax. I always go with Oregon, but you can also use Alaska, New Hampshire, Delaware or Montana.

    Thanks OP. It works.

Do Sony often give away games without a PlayStation Plus subscription?

  • Awesome. Thank you.

  • If I have both a US account and an AU account, is it simple to switch between them?

If I download a game via the US account, will I just not be able to access it from the AU one?

    • you can access it from your AU account once the game is downloaded from the US store and installed.

  • +1

Nice deal. I bought it at launch but for those without… Worth the download.

  • "Page not found!
It is not you. It is the internet's fault"

    • I was getting the same because of my AU account. Make a US one if you don't have already.

      • just realised that. logged in my us account, no problem at all.
i had this game. it is worth playing.

    • You probably have signed in to your AU PSN in the past with the browser you are using. The PSN store knows this based on your cookies and tries to load the equivalent in the AU PSN store.

Alternatively, you can use another browser to access the US PSN site.

      • Alternatively open a new private tab (aka Stealth Mode aka incognito) using Crtl + Shift + N (Chrome)

  • 40gb!

    • :O

If I were to download that via my Uni's internet service provide it would cost me $40…

    doesn't everyone have ps+ yet?

    • what major games have been free so far this year?

      • none but a lot of lame games

        • Ah that seems really lame. I was considering getting a yearly subscription too…
Are all the ones that are free stay free or do you only have a limited time to download it?

        • If you don't add them to your download list in the month that they're available you can't get them again, and they won't be back on PS+.

        • nah there are some cool games, and you get free online play too if you pay!!!!

      • tomb raider was big one

  • Cool, thanks for the heads up. I already had it as part of PSN+, but I've now just registered the download under my US account. Why not.

Also, the Uncharted 3 multiplayer download is free as well.

Your move xbone live games with gold arcade

    • +1

Wouldn't it be: your move Xbox360. Since it is a free game for last generation console and doesn't require a subscription?

    • -1

I just got Dark Souls for free to keep forever regardless of having a gold subscription or not. That's to go with the 22 or so other games I've gotten from Games with Gold that are mine to keep forever, no strings attached. How many games has PS+ given like that? Not a single one.

      • -2

4..stand corrected…litte big plannet, wipeout, there where 2 others I think was informus cant remember other one,

The only problem you have now is you own a doorstop,

        • Dead Nation

        • +1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't those the games given out to say sorry for having all of your personal data stolen in the PSN hack? I know that I got Infamous, Dead Nation, and some other game for free because of that (I already had LBP so didn't choose that one). If that's what you're referring to, that wasn't PS+.

The only problem you have now is you own a doorstop,

          What does that even mean?

        • +2

          informus

Is this the version where you have the super power of telling people stuff?

        • Yup, those were apology games.
          and
          Who knows?

I think Sony might have given some free games out last year for E3 too?

        • +1

          Yup, those were apology games.

Yet I get downvoted for correcting him lol. Though no doubt he was the one who downvoted me.

FWIW I think PS+'s "free" games are good for those who don't buy many games. People carry on about getting games like Uncharted, Bioshock Infinite, etc for "free" because they're AAA games, but the fact is that if you have more than a passing interest in video games you've most likely already played those games because they don't come out on PS+ for at least 6 months after their release. Having Bioshock Infinite "free" on PS+ would mean nothing to me because I bought it on day one, same with most other games that catch my interest, so in my case PS+ really offers very little - just rentals of games that I either already own or didn't want to own.

        • It's also a great way of trying other games, I would never have played Thomas Was Alone if not for PS+ and that game is an absolute gem.

      • +1

        Who cares?

PS+ subscribers are usually happy to keep paying the $55 a year to keep subscribing.
Xbox Gold subscribers are usually happy to keep paying the $55 a year to keep subscribing.
If you are going to be subscribing anyway, what does it matter if you 'own' the games or not?

        • +1

It matters because Sony and its fans keep pushing the "free games!" line when it's really just a sort of Netflix-lite rental service. No one ever says that they get thousands of free movies and TV shows from their Netflix subscription.

        • As a PS fanboy I agree with you. I usually try and refer to the games as "free" games (quotes included) or as PS+ content so that people understand it is not zero-cost games as is often depicted.
