    Dupe

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141490

and it actually says 28%/14% off for VIC if you follow that link…

  • What happens after the 12 months, does it go back to no discount?

    • i doubt it.

I signed up to origin for their e plans for gas. And power a few weeks ago (nsw). Wasn't as good as this deal. Not even close 15% for power. Anyhow it says in the fine print after 12 months it will revert to standard prices but there is no contract.

    • Yes, unless you renew the contract and opt for the available plan at that time…

    • Once your 12-month discount period is up, we’ll be in touch to let you know what offers we have for you.

  • please share the link for NSW also.

I don't get it… NSW says 10% off gas, but then underneath it says 7% off plus an extra 1% when you pay on time, where is the other 2%?

      where is the other 2%?

The guy that did the maths at Origin was made redundant and they've outsourced maths to India.

  • thanks to OP and JV as i missed the other post back in april!

Just had a look at terms, note this discount is applied to "Usage" only, not % off the entire bill because daily service charge won't be discounted.

    • same goes for the other utility companies too…

      • pretty sure red energy disc off the whole bill

        • Yes, Red discounts the whole bill but not Origin.

Uhhh, I should look into this I'm just off contract. I loath energy providers, so much smoke and mirrors on rates and discounts. In the old days yes it was a monopoly but now it's a confusopoly. I doubt I'm better off.

  • If you are considering this don't forget to look at the actual rates.
I had a quick look at the supply charge… very high

    • i am about to ask where can u see these rates?

      edit: got it…..

  • Dodo are advertising 30% off Elec and 20% off gas, will have to do a direct comparo to see which is really cheaper…

  • EnergyAustralia also have a similar deal for Victoria. And do check the supply charge as well. Origin seems higher.

Click Vic and Flexi Saver 27% Elec 16% Gas.

  • I was told it does not matter the discount offered….it is more important the actual RATE price charged per KWh and daily charge….there was a comparison chart on here somewhere….anyone find it and confirm the above?

DODO seems cheaper on flexible pricing and supply…I know the estimate the bill though.

What smart meter plan do you go on?
    1.Peak(single rate)
    2.Time of day
    3.Flexible pricing

  • anyone considered or used powershop?

  • why qld is more expensive? :(

  • AGL won't give me any better deal on the phone than what they advertise online (NSW).

    Maybe it's time to switch…

  • This offer ends on 30 June. Deregulation of electricity commences on 1 July in NSW. It maybe worthwhile waiting to see if prices drop after deregulation comes into effect.

  • I got 19% for Electricity and 14% for Gas from Origin Customer Retention(with direct debit). Origin Energy got a nice guy called Rhys. He said he could help anyone to get the same deal. If you like his details, please send a private messaging. I have nothing to gain but your happiness, if it helps. I am just a NSW customer like you; not at all associated with Origin.

    • Did you have to switch to another company first and then get a call from the retention team? Or did you just say you were leaving? Just wondering if this deal would be available for new customers.

    • sritha1, I dont think your private messaging is on. Could you please send me Rhys' contact details?
