Web purchase or hold at store through web. Store pickup and delivery available

  • Great first post.

  • def available in store - just picked one up at OCONNOR : )

  • Just bought from MtGravatt. Also stacked with AMEX $50 offer so $449. Good deal. Need to do today for Amex offer though in store as online is via pay-pal and not sure if this is valid for Amex offer.

    • What's the AMEX offer? Do you just have to pay with AMEX or need to pre-register?

Edit: found it but too late.

I brought this 16gb wifi model and I initially thought the storage would not be enough but its actually just right. I stream my music through spotify and was able to download the free ILIFE and IWORK suites and still have a few gb left. Good buying at this price!

16GB wifi tablet for $499? wow

how does this compare to tablets 1/5th of the price?

    • +1

Craps all over them from a great height in absolutely every respect. You get what you pay for. This is a good price.

      • how so though?

        • +2

Battery life, display, vendor support, bundled software, size, weight, durability, input, app availability, peripheral availability, quality control.

        • -8

Yes, but apart from that - what has Apple ever done for tablet computing?

          Introducing the iPad?

        • doesn't seem like good value to me, not sure how this is bargain

    • Every single kids in the world like IPad, don't believe me, if you can borrow one shit tablet and one IPad, give it to your kid, see which one they will pick, I guarantee you they will
      Pick IPad.

      • +7

Not that I agree that a $100 tablet is anywhere near comparable to an iPad, but why are we basing worth on the uninformed preferences of children?

Pick what's right for you - for a lot of people, that's an iPad. For other people, it isn't. It doesn't matter. It's a product, not an ideology.

  • Advice please. When is it a good idea to get one with wifi plus cellular?

    • when you need to use the internet when you are out on the road, and dont have access to wifi. Then you use the mobile data on the sim card.

      • +1

Unless you are frequently using iPad on the move and requires a separate data plan, it may be more economical to use your phone as the hot spot.

    • I haven't got one, but the large battery on a tablet makes it a very long lasting hotspot.

  • This or LG gpad "8.3 ?

that's a no brainer answer for me.. buy the air..

LG = Lucky Goldstar = company with no vision known for breaching consumer law in Australia and known for cutting costs in the build where it counts to the consumer. Their vision is simply making profits at the consumers expense so they have no rules governing how products are developed hence no consistency from our viewpoint as a consumer.

Apple=company with a vision for what they want to do and go = build products to a purpose which translates to a closer alignment to what consumers actually want, rather than some junk hardware with junk software. Yes they have faults too but overall they are much better at producing great products.

LG are fast becoming one of the worst companies around in terms of support and reliability of their products and I won't not touch their products again after my last few experiences. Even if you were happy with the mediocre visionless products they sell you would find yourself dealing with some of worst service repair people on the planet if the product developed faults within its service life.

P.S. And I'd recommend getting it from Officeworks. The good guys are fast becoming the bad guys in terms of customer after sales support. Officeworks have better returns policies by far.

  • Which one is better if price doesn't matter? Air or Mini 2?

    • Depends on your needs. hardware is identical with the only difference being the screen size.

    • +1

the only difference I have found worth noting is you sacrifice screen size for portability. Personally the smaller unit is a lot easier to carry around (with a case protecting it as its so tiny its easy to forget your carrying it an drop it) but if I need to read PDF books then the air would be better. That said I do read PDFs on the mini without too much pain. Hope that helps.. do see them and try them out I recommend.
