For those of us unable to move on from our last Thai experience, and trying to be the cool 'Chang' drinkers instead of the tourist 'Singha' drinkers, Dan's has this ridiculously cheap at the moment, cheaper than the 100 baht 7-11 Bangkok specials we're all boring our co-workers with…

20 baht for a big bottle? Where?
Kanchanaburi in particular, sometimes 16-18 baht, and usually 25ish in BK, about 30 max!
But this was in bars and from stalls. I guess you'd expect to pay more if you shop in tourist shops!!!I can help keep the peace and even it out by letting you know that I once paid the equivalent of about $14 AUD for a beer in KL! But that was my own stupid fault in converting, thinking it was Baht and not Ringgit!!!
Hmmm……..3 years ago, perhaps.
You do understand these are long necks, don't you?
All of my favorite bars charge B120+ for a small chang, but to each his own ;)
KL alcohol would be similar if not more expensive than Australia. It's a Muslim country so it's similar to a wealth tax.
True. It's not cheap at all and I s quite surprised the first time.
You're best to find a bar doing a "buy one get one" (their words) deal but always watch out for "++" as that means the advertised price is tax exclusive and will be added when you fix-up.
Its 100 baht for twoo big chang at 7-11 … cant see why it would be cheaper in Kan than anywhere else in Thailand…
For a starter, at least you're down to 50 per bottle! And why does everyone keep mentioning 7-11? Do you also only ever eat in hotels??? There's a stack of vendors selling fruit, soft drink, beer and delicious doner kebabs at ridiculously cheap prices!!!
It also helps in BK if you get away from the built up tourist spots with nicer shops like Silom once in a while!
I know you wouldn't come close nowadays somewhere like Patong. After the Tsunami they kept developing nicer newer places that kept driving prices up and lost the last of its charm! Hence why I wouldn't bother heading back there! Too many other much more intriguing developing cities and countries in the area!
From Chiang Rai to Hat Yai they were pretty much the same price everywhere from 7-11, family mart, ma and pa shop, local restaurant and everywhere in between they were never less than 50 baht for a big bottle when I was there a few weeks agao. I used to be able to get them for 30 baht 10 years ago but have never seen a large bottle of Chang for 20 Baht Thailand-wide EVER…. Not in twenty years anyway. Photo or it didn't happen.
No free delivery for beer? Cant get it to work :(
Horrible beer. Fantastic football club.
Great beer cold when it's 36° and 90% humidity outside!
99% of beer is good cold under those conditions
That price is very good. The elephant beer is my favourite. Thanks
Chang, a bit too sweet to get too keen about.
Chang water, top drop however.Chang beer - same same as VB, but different :)
The price is great, thanks OP!
Ordered for click & collect. Thanks
It's been over 30 hours and I'm yet to receive my pick up notification. This isn't looking good…
Got it :)
Spare some Chang(e)?
I am in koh phangan right now and this may just shade local bar price! bargain.
Not going to neg, but I agree, is a horrible beer. Each to their own I guess.
I agree. If you wanted something different from Singah, Tiger was the go.
or Leo beer.
Did I get negged because I didn't neg? What? I thought it was clear this was clearly just an opinion.
It is 6.4 percent alcohol and rice-based beer bottled in Thailand (what you get in bars there).
Bottles brewed outside Thailand are malt based and a reduced 5 percent alcohol.
Good price but I'll try to skip!
Actually, these are 5% and bottled in Thailand.
Just back from Nai Yang Beach and who needs this cold? One of those beers that taste better with ice!
These were 65 baht at Big C in Chiang Mai last December so great price considering the baht's now back to 30 an AUS$…. thanks OP!
Could only get one carton from my local DM..Mai pen rai!
Big C Station… your shopping destination…
Thanks a lot, now I can't get that (high pitched) jingle out of my head!
Awesome, thanks for the heads-up on this one OP :)
Happily, I was able to specify a somewhat distant "collect date" from my local DM, as I'm heading OS in a couple of days…As soon as I set my store price changes to $5.99 per bottle. Only selected stores it seems.
Cheers - ordered some for pick-up locally - you need to keep changing stores to find ones with stock
My store had stock…just full price :( Strange as next 2 closest stores were discounted.
Thanks OP. Found another store in Sydney with discounted stock.
I'd rather pay the extra $11 and get fully imported Leo from Aldi (the beer that Thai's actually drink!)
Leo is the choice of beggers and bums in Thailand due to the higher alcohol.
Your comment is ignorant nonsense.
Leo is 5% alcohol - Chang is >6%.
"Beggers" (sic) and "bums" drink Lao Khao - a local rice-based spirit.
WTF this just changed as i was checking out, changed to $41.99 per case of 12, $5.99 per bottle…
None at the nerang store
So if this is the malt based one, not the rice one, where is this stuff brewed?
Brewed in Ayutthaya Thailand

PS agree with dirtycarrot..Leo's a good drop at a good price..pity we have no Aldi here in the West..
Just cleaned out the last 10 bottles @Sth Melbourne Dan. Thanks OP.
5.0% alcohol as stated in the product description
Brighton Vic. have stock
Nobody is taking a loss so it shows how much profit they have in beer
FYI it's genuine Made In Thailand and full 5% alcohol
Thanks original poster, just grabbed 2 cases
Tried to order it from Brighton this afternoon and it shows completely out of stock. Had to go down to Parkville.
Having a Chang right now BTW. Cheers, OP!
Was going past Dan's at Parkwood and dropped in. None there either.
Scored 6 bottles..Be careful about expiry date.
20 days to expire one that i bought
I just noticed that on mine too! Best before…. So what's the real expiry….
"Best before" is different to "use by". Personally, I would happily drink a bottle (or ~12) of beer that was way past its "best before" date, as long as it made that little "pfffft" sound when I opened it, indicating that the seal had not been breached. I reckon stubbies are analogous to "hermetically sealed" cans of food, in that as long as the packaging is not compromised, the product is highly unlikely to contain any potential pathogens, even after the "best before" date.
So I love it when dirt-cheap beer goes on sale because it's close to its "best before"… And I certainly can't taste the difference.what if the 'pfffft' sound is louder than usual. Could be some aerobic bacteria which are adding extra 'fizz' to the bottle.
Sorry, but you were getting ripped my friend! We were only paying about 20 baht on average!
