Gamecube controller adapter for Wii U

Just heard some news today Nintendo have made an adaptor so we can play the new super smash bros using the gamecube controller. And possibly new controllers coming too.
Are you happy about this? I am as I always used it when I played smash Wii. I see the Black pro as too chunky? Does anyone use the Wii U pro controller atm?

  • Yeah I saw that.
I wonder if they'll produce more GC controllers like they did for the Wii.
Both of mine are broken from being stored poorly. (the sticks were pressed against something and now malfunction)

I think I'll use the Pro controller for Smash Bros.
I haven't used it but I imagine it'd be okay.

I assume the game's designed to play with the Pro controller, so it would be a good choice.

    • Gamecube controllers sometimes allow for glitching mechanics on certain characters. I'm curious if this will be possible with the Pro or not. If yes, Pro it is, if not, Gamecube me up!

  • I am going to use the gamepad, because I am a badass that can hold all of that immense weight with ONLY MY BARE HANDS, no cranes required.

Is what people who haven't used a gamepad think about it.

But srslor, Gamecube Controller is love.

I bought the pro controller last weekend to play black ops 2 - it's very ergonomic, uncanny resemblance to an xbox 360 controller:

IMO this is the best controller nintendo had come out with since the gamecube - it's a gamer's controller. Much much lighter than the gamepad, and easier to hold than wii mote+nunchuck. Nice rumble action and apparently good for 80hrs per charge of its battery, which charges in any USB socket. Much easier than swapping AA's out of the wii motes!

As a comparison to the game cube, the pro controller is a bit bigger, but it has normal shaped buttons (no kidney bean XABY), a far easier to access left d-pad and of course is wireless. However the GC controller is comfy for everyone, pro controller is maybe a bit big for people with small hands.

It's definitely given me a slight edge over using the gamepad in BO2, especially over longer periods. EB selling them for $57 atm, big w normal price is $56. Pretty exxy and I agonised over the decision, but I'm 100% happy with it.
