Hi All,
We've just taken delivery of some delicious Ugandan beans from the rich volcanic soils of Mt Elgon and are offering 1kg for only $29.95 inc Aus. wide shipping. They're a super tasty bean, with a medium-full body making for a rich black coffee with a hint of acidity and a white coffee with plenty of malt and cocoa flavours which are suited really well to lattes/cappuccinos. For more tasting notes and further info check out the link given :)

hi jv,
No, these beans aren't certified as unfortunately for these particular farmers, the certification process is too costly. Thanks for your interest though.I used to live near there and it is true that the certification for fair traded is just too costly for the farmers. It is also true that there have been many people taken advantage of in this area. So it would be good to know if you bought directly off the farmers and if you paid a fair rate or invest some of your profit back into the community it comes from. I still have some contacts in the area and could assist you with with sourcing coffee from a project that is empowering farmers, paying them a fair price and investing back into their communities.
This is ozbargain, not a fair trade aisle in coles. ….. Is the computer or phone/tablet you type on produced by a fair trade company??
I pay a lot of attention to these sorts of things. We all should. In the west we have not outlawed slavery we have just outsourced it. I am not saying these beans are coming from slave or child labour. I am saying it is a legitimate question to ask of its fair trade.

https://www.baptistworldaid.org.au/behind-the-barcodeits a two edge sword, you don't want to support a company that uses clidren as a sweatshop but at the same time if you don't then these children have 1 less source of income to feed themselves. It is not black and white, i have been to many third world countries and happen to be in a candy factory where children are allowed to work after school and weekends. Their pay is peanuts but they chose to because that will help them buy textbooks or extra clothes.
Correct - but if we keep supporting those who pay peanuts, they will keep paying peanuts. If you support a company that at least attempts to pay better, then this business will expand rather than those that take more advantage of others.
Do sales of this coffee support Ugandan pastor Martin Sempa? Because I for one, would like to see more hilarious sermons from him.

"Hand picked by only the most emaciated children for that authentic coffee taste."
