the achilles ATR sport range is decently priced if you are looking for something 17" or larger - tyrepower croydon usually do a decent deal on these.
tyrepower parafield is where i usually go, not because it is anywhere near me, but because they are open on sundays (and I, like I would have thought most other people, never have the luxury of going to a bloody tyre place at 2.30 in the afternoon on a weekday). they don't do the achilles from memory, but often have decent deals on toyos.
id probably steer clear (heh, heh) of the true 'no brand' tyres like Kinforest and Ovation.
there are a couple of tyre outlets around kilkenny (they advertise on gumtree) which sell the true no-brand chinese/indonesian tyres (and yes, I say that knowing fully well that achilles is indonesian) for bargain prices, if you really want to risk it. which, to be honest, in adelaide with its increasingly rare rainfall, probably isn't such a big risk as it may be for our eastern brethren.
