I have noticed that Sheridan brand fitted sheets are much cheaper at TheHut in England, even after adding shipping and exchange rates:
http://www.thehut.com/elysium.search?search=sheridan+fitted
Note that the prices on that page are for single beds, to get the prices for other sizes you have to click on the one you want, wait for the new webpage to load, then select the size and wait for the price to update.
There is a problem, though: English bed sizes are not the same as Australian bed sizes. For instance, they don't have a "Queen" size at all, the nearest equivalent is called "King" size.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed_size
AU/NZ "Queen" size is 153cm x 204cm
UK "King" size is 60 inches × 78 inches, also sold as 150 cm × 200 cm
Assuming that the 60x78 inches size is the more accurate one, and converting the imperial measurements to metric myself, I calculate the metric size to be 152.4cm x 198.12cm. The width is only a tiny bit different to the Australian width, but the length is some 6cm shorter.
Will this make any noticeable difference? I will be using it with a 15cm-thick foam mattress, which is quite a bit thinner than a spring-based mattress. Does the thinner mattress help?
Anyone have any experience in this area?
Also, if anyone knows somewhere more local that sells Sheridan at the same delivered prices, please let me know.
I interchange my linen that I bought when living in the uk with the stuff that I have here. their king is our queen.
