Cash Match Madness! - Get a CatchOfTheDay Voucher for Every Dollar Spent on Sale - Not Inc. P/H

90

Hi guys,

If I understand correctly, you get a catch of the day voucher for every dollar you spend on this particular sale but not including p/h. So essentially you get whatever item for free but the money has to be used for another deal for COTD.

Sorry if I misunderstood it.

Oh and it's until midday AEST on Monday 26/05.

Keep in mind, the voucher is only valid for a month after you get it.

Cheers.

Min.

Did you notice how overpriced most of the items are in that particular sale ???

    • +1

Yeah but it's still essentially a free item.

      • +1

Not if you end up paying almost twice what you would pay elsewhere for the same thing…

        • +1

Not everything is overpriced in this sale. Some of the pricier items yes but the cheap ones are there.

And it still counts as a free item if you get a voucher to save towards something that costs 400 on the site.

I don't understand your logic behind it. Free is free if you get a voucher.

        • -2

If anyone wants to have a shot at understanding JVs logic, just Google "opportunity cost".

        • You just became my new favourite person on this site.

        • +1

free is not free is you have to spend money.

        • So, you bet the item for free, why does it matter how much it costs?

You can use the voucher for any catch of the day item, which includes some good deals.

        • +1

          My logic exactly cakesy.

Of course it's only useful if you purchase items on this site regularly or have future plans.

If you think it's a horrible site for bargains, I wouldn't bother.

        • +2

opportunity cost has nothing to do with it, unless you have just enough money to buy this item.

        • "you can buy[sic] the item for free"

          point made, thanks.

        • Never said buy. Said "get". If we're going to be particular about wording.
And really, a majority of people knew what I meant and weren't as particular as some about the wording.

        • how do you "get" voucher then? by buying.

        • I'm talking about the sum event. The item is essentially free. If you want to be stubborn and have the last word, go for it.
I've had my morning coffee and I don't feel grumpy enough to continue this debate over something this trivial.

          Have a nice day.

        • and you said "bet" originally. but thanks for editing

        • i want to be stubborn and have the last word. enjoy your coffee.

        • No I didn't.

          Cakesy did.

I only edited the original post to mention that the voucher only lasts a month.

        • -1

i'll buy your BS if you give me more BS for free

        • You are just rude.

        • thanks

        • +2

          You are just rude.

          Welcome to the internets.

        • @didsburydan - So what exactly is the reason for the neg vote against the deal? Is it an issue with the way the deal is described (using word 'free')?

        • -3

          do i need a reason?

        • Actually you do.

        • do i need a reason?

Based on this I guess there wasn't a reason for the neg vote. It will be revoked.

        • -1
        • seriously though, some things are cheap, but then you have to pay a ridiculous amount for shipping on top. for most things on this deal it is essentially a free shipping deal, but not actually free because you are obliged to buy more stuff from cotd PLUS another shipping fee.

deal is ok. terms are not.

          You are just rude.

          Welcome to the internets.

Welcome to OzBargain more like it…

I suspect that the OP is learning why a lot of us don't bother posting deals anymore…having to justify them to thankless whingers is just not worth the hassle.

        • +1

Yeah okay, it's probably a bit worse here than other places. At least they're learning early on, less than a month!

        • +4

Meh, I don't feel others need to suffer just because one person is annoying.

          I'll keep going. For now..

        • +4

I'm with mthucs. Say you have no vouchers, and you find something you decide to buy on the site, and it costs $100.
You would be mad not to first spend $100 on "stuff" (even overpriced stuff) in this sale, thus scoring yourself a $100 voucher. Then you use the voucher to buy the thing you were going to pay cash for.
The upshot is you've only spent the $100 cash that you were going to spend anyway, and you've scored all that extra "stuff" you got in the voucher sale, for free.
          Seems pretty simple to me?

    • hmmm… I dont want to get caught out paying too much here…..
Which particular items do you mean?

  • +1

My guess is this is an end-of-financial year sale, because the vouchers expire on 30-June-2014 (30 days)

Also, don't forget shipping is excluded from the voucher price. Having said that, the Topsy-Turvy Tomato Planter is $9.99 with free shipping.

    • +1

I got a couple of these or something very similar from either OO or DealsDirect and they weren't UV stable, the sun destroyed them in a couple of months. Doesn't mean these are the same but they sure do look the same.

      • +1

I bought some from COTD a few years back, they were worse than useless…save your money.

    • From a quick browse it would appear the tomato planter is not part of the cashback sale. Unless of course I flicked past it.

      • Hey mate,

It's on the first page of the sale. Third item.

        • Damn must be blind in one eye and can't see out the other. Thanks

  • -2

thanks OP, just ordered a pet bed for my $30 voucher to sit on. http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/38912/product/sasquatc…

    • Maybe you should try sitting in it.

Might be therapeutic. The dogs certainly seem to enjoy it.

      • -1

the bed is for my voucher as already mentioned.

  • I can't use my COTD $20 voucher purchased in the Scoopon Birthday Sale. No voucher payment option :(

    • +1

There is the option to enter coupon code if that is what you are looking for.

It can be easy to miss, when you are at your cart, there is a grey line that ask "Have a coupon code?"

Click there and you should be able to enter your code/voucher.

It is below the green box and above the subtotal.

      • thanks! i missed it :)

    • Ah bummer. That sucks.

Hopefully there won't be an issue with using these vouchers anywhere either.

  • -2

thanks OP. just found these for my voucher http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/38912/product/3x-hi-je…

    • Maybe you can use it for a halloween outfit?

      • thanks OP, bought 50

        • 50 Halloweens.

          You're set.

        • -1

only need 1 for voucher and 1 for next halloween.

other 898 can be bought from me for $1 each + $10 p/h. plus you get a "free" voucher equal to purchase cost to buy more (not including p/h)

    • +1

      Still sore?

  • sorry newb question
    what does p/h stand for?

    • Postage and Handling mate.

    • +2

Knowing p/h is a litmus test for OzB newb status.

  • +1

    They took down the sale!

    • Yeah. They JUST changed the sale to a everything under 7 dollars sale.

      Damnit.

I wonder if the items in my basket will still count..

Just checking with the site. Will let you guys know if they do.

      • Definitely gone!

  • +2

I've been informed there was an error in the event and I'm afraid it had to be closed early.

Catch of the day! Come on!

  • Damn missed out.

  • Sale will be up again this afternoon apparently (if you can take the word of their customer service people). Not bad if there is stuff in there you were planning to buy anyway, and if you have the pre-paid shipping Club Catch Membership.

    • They told me the same thing. This isn't actually expired, according to my chat rep.

  • they told me its a maybe, i wouldnt hold my breath…..

  • So when do we get our cash match vouchers?

    • i think they said by 30th May, so hopefully tomorrow….

      • I still haven't receive my voucher yet. I hope they will still send out the voucher although they closed the event early

        • i got it now :)

  • Did anyone else get vouchers for this? Just chatting to them now and they said sent out on 30/05 but I didn't get it

  • I still haven't got my vouchers…

    Will these be emailed?
