I also need an email facility

My main concern was that some may not allow or support wordpress.

I'm going to start this off by saying anyone but Melbourne IT and GoDaddy. Seriously. Anyone. Even some dodgy outfit that uses IPoAC would be better.
On to more positive suggestions, I've used Serversaurus for going on 5 years and can't recommend them enough. Over this period I've had a personal site, a uni club Wordpress install, and a quite a few domain names, and I've transferred all of my services with other registrars across. They've been very responsive to support requests and solving minor migration issues and I've always got the impression they were responding to things based off their own knowledge and intuition rather than just reading back a script.
While others might well be cheaper, it was important to me that they were Melbourne based and carbon-offsetting. Their Wordpress setup is simple, but I can't claim to have used their email services (I've used both gApps and Fastmail - the latter is worth a look if you can deal with a separate provider)

I would say almost all the web hosting providers are fit for hosting WordPress (basically just requiring PHP & MySQL), and almost all of them would provide WordPress installation with a single click.

Getting WordPress installed and hosted is typically pretty straight forward task. Getting to maintained — constant updates to core / plugin / theme, backups, etc — is something else which the hosting provider would not be responsible for.
