whats the difference? sorry, i dont have much knowledge in regards to computer stuff hahah. is this internal ssd some storage that you connect via usb port or?
Buy something like this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145669 then buy either an external case or cable (off ebay) to make it effectively a USB external SSD drive.
thank you, that makes sense!
Make sure you buy a USB 3.0 external case to increase the transfer speed. But even then USB 3.0 is not fast enough.
any recommendations for macbook air storage?
i was planning to buy the new jetdrive lite by transcend but i couldn't seem to find it? so maybe im considering this, and buying an enclosure so i can effectively use it as a usb external ssd driveOf course you can't find it, it's not sold anywhere yet. However the Jetdrive Lite is limited to 60mbps write, 95mbps read. Should be ok if you just want to store files on it, but not ideal to install programs on.
would that be the same for the internal ssd + enclosure stated above? more of storing files instead of program installation?
Both options are equally good for just file storage.
The Jetdrive is really similar to an SD card, but it performs faster. Not as fast however, as a SSD connected via USB 3.0
The pros of the Jetdrive is that you can plug it in and forget that it's there since it lives inside the memory card slot. The Con is that you can't buy it yet, but you can import via Amazon.
The pro of the SSD+enclosure option is that it's significantly faster than the Jetdrive, and you can choose very large capacities, the main disadvantage is that it's bulkier and you need to plug in the USB the drive to use it.
never mind. i thought you can't alter macbook air's ssd storage?
You can on, but you'll have to fork out quite a bit of money to buy the replacement SSD.

Why not buy an internal SSD & case (or cable) to suit…will probably end up much cheaper as well.
