  • with the shipping cost from the US it ends up being more expensive…

    • Gembel it really depends how much you buy mate, look at the post above i have done a quick comparison between an australian supplier and us.

  • If you are wrapping a complete car for instance a ve holden commodore, you will need about 55ft or approx 17m linear metres to do the complete car.

    • how much would i need to wrap the car interior? dash panel, door trims, AC trims etc.

      • Hi mate, you really need to measure your panels and add an extra 30-50mm on top of your measurments to allow for conforming to curves and edges.

I cant tell you exactly how much you would need because i dont know the measurements.

Best thing to do is grab a tape measure and measure the panels you want to do.

        Sorry

        • for application, can i just use hair dryer, cutter and credit card to push the bubbles? are these sufficient? dont really want to spend more on tools :(

  • I'v occasionally wondered if a clear contact on the car body wouldn't be a 'good thing' to stop light scratches (after spotting what looks like a jeans stud scratch on my car from someones fat ass squeezing past) .. not sure if it's a product of not but a tough vinyl might be good for this?

  • Any tips for applying the vinyl to the car exterior?
I recently tried applying the carbon fibre vinyl to my laptop lid and it was very difficult to align and avoid bubbles.

    • Clean environment, heat gun, plastic scraper and a heap of patience & time.. Take it slow.

    • May i ask if you were using the 3m Carbon fiber vinyl or some other brand of vinyl off ebay?

Air bubbles are ALMOST non existent with the 3m 1080 range of films, as the film has special channels to help dissipate the trapped air.

Yes the key is taking it slowly, and ONLY applying GENTLE heat to help conform the film.

Chris Cook is an absolute master at wrapping.

      Cheers

      • I probably was using some other brand. It was 3D textured carbon fibre vinyl though.

It didn't say 3M anywhere on the backing paper though

        • yep i would say the stuff you used was def not 3m 1080 vinyl, 3M 1080 is really quite easy and forgiving to use.

      • The first car I wrapped I did based purely on Chris's videos, I've since been on a training course with Chris and safe to say that quote is spot on!

Chris Cook is an absolute master at wrapping.

Thanks OP, I've just ordered what I need for an upcoming full car wrap, had to slightly modify to bring it under the $1000 limit but should still have enough for the job!

  • Also we offer EVERY colour that the manufactures make, many suppliers over here in Australia, dont have all the latest colours that we have.

  • +1

also, to send to Australia you guys cant send it directly? have to use a 3rd party?

    • We either send via UPS, DHL or FEDEX, it will take around 4-7 days for the items to arrive.

    • By third party you mean Bongo? There is no need to use bongo, just add your items to the cart, then go to the checkout, and you will notice "Calculate Shipping Rates" choose your country, enter your state and then your postcode, click on Recalculate and it will give you shipping options.

      • i see cool..

for application, can i just use hair dryer, cutter and credit card to push the bubbles?
are these sufficient? dont really want to spend more on "special" tools :(

        • Hair dryer will be fine however for the sake of a few $$$ I would buy this

          http://www.metrorestyling.com/High-Quality-Felt-Edge-Squeege…

Or just do a search on ebay for "3M Vinyl Felt Squeegee"

you really don't want to screw up your nice wrap job by using a Credit card :)

Also get yourself an nice sharp knife, a fine blade is better more control.

But the hair dryer will be fine.

          Cheers

        • i see.. ok will get that squeegee.. i do have a cutter i can use.

so ideally do i cut the vinyl first so that it's the shape of the object im wrapping, stick it on and just cut off excess vinyl?
or i just put the whole square vinyl on the object, cut excess vinyl to make it into shape?

        • it depends on the surface it is going on, if it is flat and has no curves just cut the vinyl so there is about 30-50mm overhang on ALL sides.

If it is curved you need to allow more excess, as the vinyl can SAFELY be stretched up to 30%

I posted some links to videos in the above comments, i suggest you check them out to familiarise your self with the vinyl i have put the links below.

I cannot stress enough before you start check out both of those youtube channels you will be more confident in the task you are about to undertake.

if there is ONE thing i can say is TAKE YOUR TIME!!!

          Don't rush it!

          What exactly are you wrapping?

          Cheers

        • hmm quite useful.. i want to wrap side mirrors and interior bits :)

  • …Double posted ooops :)

  • Hi there rep. Can you source the Solar Guard Home tinting films?

    • Sorry mate right now that is not something we are looking into.

But we will keep this in mind for future development.

      cheers

    • Just one thing in regards to the link you posted.

The product is not the same series of vinyl that we sell.

We only sell vinyl that is best suited for Vehicle installation, although that 3M film will work 3M 1080 is the best.

      The link you posted is

      3M Carbon vinyl

      we sell

      3M 1080 Series Carbon Vinyl

      and

      3M Dinoc Series Carbon Vinyl

as well as other quality films

The link posted and the vinyls we sell are totally different and are not the same.

      Cheers

  • Can you recommend an installer for these wraps and how much it would cost?

    • Hi could you please tell me where you live and I might know someone. Also expect to pay between $3500-$6000 for a commodore sized car.

Also it takes around 7-10 days for some installers to do it properly.

      Cheers
