  • The price says $589.99 when you click on the laptop from the link ?? seems a bit misleading
same when added to the cart

    • Wasn't trying to mislead it was a honest mistake as the price didnt change when we turn the special on thats all…

If you look now its $555

    • mikinoz - might want to fix up your vote now that the issue has been fixed up. Click votes up the top right hand corner, and click the icon next to your name.

  • Edit: Same comment as above, just a tad late =)

  • Am I missing something?

MSY is selling this for $499

Edit: I found the difference, MSY is N270 Atom 1.6Ghz Mwave is N280 Atom 1.66GHz

    Small Difference

    • Yeah, that appears to be the only difference. The N280 isn't really worth the 10+% price jump. 60MHz and a slightly faster bus speed… eh.

Also, you can get the N280 model for $569 from Umart, which makes it a $14 and 2.5% difference.

If it had free shipping I'd call it a bargain. But without it, meh.

      • Power consumption is significantly lower on the N280..
Much better battery life on the Plus over the standard (older) model..

ie.. Probably worth the 10% price jump..

        • No, it doesn't. It doesn't at all. It uses a tiny bit more (so small as to be insignificant, but more).

Where did you get this idea?

            @[Deactivated]: Well, from here
            http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news/2009/02/intel-debuts-ne…

"The N280 improves significantly on N270's already excellent power consumption, with a rated TDP of 2W, down 20 percent from the N270's 2.5W."

Usually an impeccably good source of technical info..

Add to that reviews saying the U100 Plus has longer battery life than the U100 standard where the only difference is the processor, and what do you get?
A Netbook with better battery life.. therefore probably worth the 10% premium..

            And your source?
You can't question my info without supplying your own!!

            • @ESEMCE: I hope you realise that 0.5 W of power is next to nothing.

The other parts in the laptop is the main consumer of battery.

              • @samfisher5986: I do..
But somehow it's enough to increase the battery life on an otherwise specs-wise identical netbook.. (According to reviews)
Google "U100 plus vs U100" for a list of reviews who all comment on longer battery life..

  • Battery (specs shown on mwave website):
    6 Cell Lithium-Ion , 10.8 V ; 2.4 Ah

My eee HE1000 from COTD on 18th June has the following:
    8 cell Lithium-Ion, 7.2V ; 8700 MAh.

fwiw — a quick search on my batter (PL23-901) gives different information to that printed on the battery [8 cell vs 12 cell and different voltage, different MAh).
Edit: COTD lists it as 6 cell, but the other specs are directly off the battery (7.2V; 8700MAh).

The HE1000 claims 9.5 hrs and I think it does this well; it is the N270 processor, but I'm not so sure a 2.4 Ah battery would give anywhere near as long life. Are the battery specs. correct on the MSI ?

    • 2.4Ah sounds low for a 6 cell (more like a 3 cell spec)..
Probably more likely to be double that..

  • +1

Mwave Website says WXGA but specs I saw elsewhere say its only 1024x600.
    Which is true?
