Moving house, will I have to re-sign my Bigpond contract?

I'm moving house in a week or so and have been trying to find a better deal. I'm currently with the old BigPond Broadband 200GB Elite - ADSL2+ plan for $100 a month with free calls to Telstra mobiles (most my friends and family are with Telstra).

As I'm in Tassie, TPG is not available unfortunately.

It's starting to look like I'm stuck with Bigpond for now. As my 24month contract is well and truly over (maybe a year or more ago) I'm concerned that if I move house and reconnect they may try to migrate me to one of their crappy current plants, or make me lock into a contract with them again which I don't want to do in case abetter bundle deal comes along.

Anyone have any idea through experience if they will try to pull something like this?

Or any suggestions of a better plan?

Also no naked, or NBN is available where I'm moving :(

  • I would think that you would just pay relocation fees. Just tell them that you dont want to be moved off this plan. Are you sure that you can get your old plan at your new address.

  • When I check through Bigponds site they say: Great news, you can get Telstra Bundles via ADSL….

  • Telstra offers excellent service, in my experience.
May consider to give them and ask. Mention you are loyal customer - now moving and looking around - what is their best deal? I had $10 off the list price per month on bundle. Speed is great. Black and white - no hidden cost. Service to your telephone. Telstra has improved a lot in past years,

  • Yeah I'm going to call Telstra tomorrow and see what they can do for me.

  • Just go to the Moving Home website on Bigpond.com and they will transfer ADSL, Landline and mobile as is without changing anything or moving you to another contract. I have used this service twice, so easy.
