I just got into an accident. My car got damaged from the back and I did assessment of the damage in the insurance company of the person who hit my car. After assessment they told me that they have got service center where I need to repair my car. Can I go to other repair center of my choice? also, can I ask for replacement car from the insurance company.

I have got third party and I don't think I have got replacement car in my policy.
read again. OP is using the other person's insurance.
@OP I just got off with the phone with insurance for a similar third party claim. They asked the car to be assessed by their assessor AND a repairer of my choice. they will compare the quotes and decide which quote to go with.
Thanks..did you get the replacement car as well.
by replacement car i think you mean a rental while yours is getting repaired ?
then yes they should!they arrange for it and you have to pay for it at first and put it in the claim afterwards.
No you are not entitled to a free rental car. You would if you had a comprehensive cover with free car rental or an optional extra service.
Since you are using the guy who was as fault insurance company, they will probably cover him if he had that option but not you.
My comprehensive insurance gives 50% discount on rental they will arrange. Free loan car was additional 100bucks which I didn't purchase.you would have a legal argument to sue them for the rental car costs ( since a rental car fee is a foreseeable cost when someone damages your car) thus your insurance probably covers the cost , they may not offer you one , but if you request it and push the subject , they would be stupid not to provide it.
This is incorrect ppshy1, if you are not the at fault driver, you can be covered for a rental car, payable by the other party. There are a whole host of companies that look after this for you - rent you the car and claim the cost from the insurance company so you are not out of pocket.
The fee you pay for a rental car as part of your comprehensive insurance is for you being an at fault driver and requiring a car after an accident.
Hi Iday, ring a company called Right To Drive they will supply you with a rental car and bill the at fault drivers insurance co direct, that is a 100% fact.
As far as getting your car repaired, get a quote from the repairer of your choice and submit it to other parties insurer, they will assess your damage, compare it to your quote, make any adjustments and then pay you direct (no need to fix your car if you decide not to). Some insurers will try to persuade you to get their repairer to do the job. and that is a 100% fact.just sharing my experience here.
Short Version: Yes I'm sure you can get them to reimburse you for a rental car whilst your car is getting repaired. I think it's up to the insurance company where you can send your car, but you can get a quote from a repairer of your choice. It's up to them where they send it to. This is when you are claiming under THEIR insurance.
Long Version: I had third party insurance and got hit from behind from another party. their insurance company was AAMI. i was assessed, one of which had to be a AAMI approved centre.
After these companies submitted their quote to AAMI, i was required to then go to AAMI assessment centre who would then go over the car and approve the work and give the job to the smash repair shop of their choice. They opted for the lower cost aami centre no surprise, but i wasnt fussed. more expensive doesnt mean better.
I spoke to aami who agreed to reimburse the cost of a rental vehicle, provided it was a like for like basis while the vehicle was in the shop. All i had to do was submit a receipt and the rental documents which showed the dates and i was in the clear. did this, no issues whatsoever.
afaik, if you are the third party, you should be able to have your rental car costs reimbursed. best to double check. Those companies like right to drive are…. well lets just say they wanted to charge $2000+ to rent out a toyota corolla to me, but that would go directly to the other persons insurance and i didnt need to pay. all i thought was if anything went wrong, i would need to foot the bill and eff that. i ended up renting a medium sized car from thirfty for like $430.
Thanks for your suggestion. I talked to the insurance and I can go to any repairer. Also, I can hire a car during repairing of my car.
