How is it a bargain when it is the full retail price?

    http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/05/nokias-lumia-630-gets-barg…

Vodafone will sell the handset with a pre-paid SIM for $179 from June 4.

    • so how much would it cost to unlock?

  • This might beat the Moto g as the budget phone worth buying if $179.

why did they only put 512MB ram kills it
otherwise for the price looks like a good phone

    quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, Adreno 305 GPU and 512MB RAM.

Perhaps WP8 runs smoothly without significant ram?

true, look into the video clip on GSMArena, you can tell how smooth it is :)

You aren't actually much worse off with 512MB of RAM. In fact, 99% of Windows Phone apps will still run smoothly, the only ones that are not compatible are high profile and high-spec requirement games like Halo: Spartan Assault, FIFA 13, N.O.V.A.3 and Mass Effect Infil. et cetera.

    • They issue WP8 devices where I work. Due to this 'forced' WP experience I have come to love it.

Anyhow, I'm now on a Lumia 625 and can say that I rarely ever have issues with 512MB of ram.

For me, the apps I can't get due to not having 1GB don't really matter to me anyway.

I would suggest holding out for the 635 for the 4G capability. Makes a BIG difference specially if you, like me are forced to ride the Optus network.

  • I don't see how this is much better than the 620, unless this variant has dual sim and 4G (both marginal improvements)

  • A few caveats as mentioned in post for the Lumia 625:

    • No front facing camera
    • No proximity sensor
    • No ambient light sensor
    • No 4G LTE (Lumia 635 is the 4G variant)

Still, a good low-mid end Win8.1 option nonetheless.
