Hi there,
Thanks for stopping by:)
here's the thing: its going to be my in-laws' wedding anniversary soon and we were hoping to surprise them with 2 tickets to Melbourne. They currently live in Mauritius. I've only been there once: its such a beautiful place but the flights are horribly expensive.I would be grateful if someone could suggest some cheap flights.
Both arrival and return dates are flexible since they are both semi-retired. Ideally we would love to have them for at least 4 weeks (my kids adore them and my father-in-law is a cracker) but no more than 12.
Btw,the airport in Mauritius is called Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Intl (MRU).
Thanks,
JJB
You're giving me an insight into how much it actually costs to fly to Mauritius..
Right, well no budget airlines actually fly there so you're pretty stuffed trying to get a mega cheap airfare..
Theres two options I can suggest..
Option 1; MRU to MEL via Perth.
One single booking, Air Mauritius to Perth then Qantas/Virgin to Melbourne.
About $1660 each.
Option 2; MRU to MEL via Perth.
YES, its the same route BUT this option is the el-cheapo-could-be-a-nightmare-option.
Return flight with Air Mauritius to Perth THEN sign up heaps of accounts to Tiger Air infrequent flyers, get a few $100 tiger vouchers and fly them both over for free. Bonus of this option, the tiger terminal is right next to the international airport in Perth whereas the other airlines are over the other side.
This option would cost about $1300 at best.
Alternatively you could go with option 2 and still afford to put them in a hotel for the night or something.
You are right though, absolutely insanely expensive flights.
