I am up to my last item to book for a 6 week holiday in the USA and was just wondering if anyone had experience with USA car hire from a UK website.
I am looking at hiring a van for 4 days from LAX. When I go to the dollar Uk website the price includes all insurances and is less than the dollar usa website which gives vague (we will tell you when you get here) insurance details.
The Uk website lets me put country of residence as Australia but I am a worried I might have issues using the Uk rather than the .com Website.

Booked my US car hire through the UK site last year (Alamo). Was much cheaper than their US site, all insurance included and had no problems at all.
Book through the UK site and save your money for when you are over there.
I booked through traveljigsaw.com.au and the prices were much cheaper than hiring locally. I was able to book pickup at San Francisco airport and drop of at LAX. Booking was made weeks before the trip and all worked perfectly. Car pickup and drive away took less than 10 minutes.
We used the UK site last year.

I thought their site was more transparent than some and we wanted the extra driver and one way dropoff in the quote.Also wanted to know who would have our booking before they had our money as we wanted to avoid some firms.
We used our 28 degree card and chose pounds as our currency. This was quite a big saving at the time.I have a 28 degrees card but unfortunately someone tried to use it to book a room at the four seasons in New York and GE cancelled the card. Lucky they could tell from my other holidays that I am a tightarse before the charge went through. $995 a night what a rip off.

I have now booked an alamo van through travel jigsaw . It worked out cheaper than dollar uk and the dollar reviews for lax said there is a really long wait . My niece only has one afternoon / night in la before ditching us to go to the governors ball in New York so we are trying to fit a lot into the first day.
Just rock up to LAX and take a bus to Hertz Anaheim thereby avoiding the surcharge of the airport surcharge.
Drive back to the airport Hertz and swap for a better car.
Hertz just have better cars at the airport and a wider choice
