  • Pretty sure that's the regular price now, at least it was this much last time I got a bottle and it didn't have any special markings..

  • +3

regular price from this is aways over $30

IMHO not worth it for this vodka. For $28 i will pay for it. anything over $30 i would rather get a good Polish vodka

  • coffee infused version is pretty nice for a cheap vodka, normally about 32-34

  • +2

Edit: I should note that this isn't a comment on the quality of the bargain of this individual product; just a rant at the value/quality prospect of other Vodka's a few cm to the left or right on the shelf

    Yeah, no.

Stolinchnaya Premium for $34.95 is infinitely better, as is Russian Standard. And Ketel One for 45 bucks can't be beat.

From 2007 to April 20th 2014, I was one of those guys. You know 'em, one of those "OMFG GREY GOOSEE FTWWWW!!!" guys who just banged on and on and on about how Grey Goose was the be all and end all of Vodka. Well, no. I was put in my place hard by a Bartender at TGI Friday who overheard me talking up Goose. With a wry smile and an obvious I-do-this-to-smug-Goose-advocates-for-pleasure attitude, he brought me up to the bar and free-of-charge pulled out a half dozen shot glasses and coffee + mint leaves to 'cleanse the palette' between drinks. My two friends and I then taste tested at random all of the Vodka's, and to my disappointment, found that Goose ranked nowhere in the 'smooth' test. I had to eat my words and now feel a bit heavier in the pocket thanks to it. Stoli and Russian Standard are indeed, without doubt, unequivocally, a smoother, better, easier to drink Vodka than Goose. I'm sorry if this hurts your innate sense of self, of defending your inner beliefs, of having to change what you thought to be true. But it's something you had to hear. Try it yourself. Edit: "This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember, all I'm offering is the truth – nothing more."

    Ranking:

    1. Crystal Head
    2. Ketel One
    3. Stolinchnaya
    4. Russian Standard
    5. Goose

    ..

    ….
    if you have to
    ..

    1. Absolut
    2. Luksusowa
    3. Belvedere
    4. Skyyyyyyy
    5. Smirnoff (and only if it is the Apple mix) (and if you enjoy a sweet, ever lasting, always debilitating, thumping hangover)
    • you haven't tried ciroc?

      • Absolute elyx is very good IMO.

        • Haven't had it.. but thanks I'll try it

      • Yes! I have, and I'd put it around the Goose/Russian Standard position in my ranking… I just didn't include it because a) I didn't think many people would know it, b) It's rather expensive anyway so you'd expect it to be at least fairly decent and more importantly, c) I didn't have it to compare with the others. I've done two side-by-side Goose vs the competition comparisons with my friends to make sure that I wasn't losing my mind. But it's true, the idea that Goose was the best Vodka since .. sliced bread?.. was probably part marketing, part public excitement and part pretty bottle and "Distilled in France" labelling

  • Been drinking VERY different vodkas since 1987. First of all, NO to Red Smirnoff. No offence guys, but IMO it is only good if you want to mix wit with something…. and even in this case I won't go for it. Period.

Stolichnaya - no thank you. Not the stuff they sell here. Not even one in / from Russia. Well, it depends but generally no, thank you.

Russian Standard - average. Just what it is. Average, no more no less. Again, IMO.

I definitely put Goose WAY above Russian Standard.

Absolute - I will stay away. I dont drink absolute and won't have it in my bar. Not too bad, but nothing special.

Finland - I personally believe it's not smooth enough and somehow does not have "classic" vodka taste. Having said that, I havent tried it in the last 10 years, just staying away from it.

IMO again - Sky is not too bad. Had it few times, average but not bad. From memory, has classic vodka taste.

Yes I believe I know something about vodka - just counted, 9 different vodkas in my bar. Cheers ! :-)
