FREE US $10 in Bitcoins w/ Uni Email Address from Coinbase

190

Your uni must be in the top 500, if your email address is in the format [email protected] try [email protected] it worked for me. (Although my account existed on their system before the Outlook.com stuff)

How to:
Signup https://coinbase.com/signup with your university email.

*Terms and Conditions:
This offer is good for a limited time and up to a limited, aggregate value on a first-come, first-served basis for new accounts only.
The offer is good only once per customer, and once per access device.
Our privacy policy and standard user terms, including posted exchange rates and exchange fees apply. You are not required to sell your bitcoin or to buy more bitcoin. Users must be 18 years old or above.
Recipients of free bitcoin are ineligible for referee bonuses provided in other Coinbase promotions.
This offer is good for select .edu domains only. We have tried to include the top 500 universities worldwide (this is not U.S. focused) but we can’t guarantee all universities are supported. We may also disable certain universities where we see abuse.

If you are wondering what to do with it I donated mine to https://pressfreedomfoundation.org/bundle/encryption-tools-j… (all to TextSecure for iOS)

      That's what the 'top 500' means :-)

      • rekt

I knew UWS wouldn't rank very high but never would have guessed it'd barely make the 600's … or maybe I did.

No luck with UNSW. Don't think Australian universities are considered

  • Got nothing on my UWA account but maybe it takes awhile? Or that the limited supply has been taken up already.

    • Got a 20 second reply, and the coin, to my UWA address.

      • What domain did you use?

        uwa.edu.au?

        • Nah, I was using my graduate one: graduate.uwa.edu.au

        • so the @student.uwa.edu.au doesn't work?

    • I have 3 UWA accounts.
Only the one that looks like [email protected] worked.
Anything with [email protected] did not work.

  • Nothing with UTS either

This is why Abbott and Pyne want to deregulate universities, so more people can claim $10 US in bitcoin.

  • Anyone had luck using alumni addresses?

    • I tried my alumni and the student version (not sure if that works, I think it might redirects to alumni address?) but appear to be having trouble with the verification step…

      • I tried using my alumni address and it didn't work. Judging from the comments in this thread, it seems that the format has to be [email protected]. I.e. it doesn't accept a subdomain?
