Qantas Sale fare - not allowing me to change return date

Hi,

I need some help/advice.

I bought a return ticket to Brazil for the WC for 4 weeks. I now wanted to extend 1 week(so a total of 5 weeks) since my gf is going to be in Argentina in that last week.

I bought it from flight center(bad idea).. but both them and Qantas are telling me that for me to extend my options are:
1. buy an entire new airfare going there and back (3.5-4K compared to the 2K i paid)
2. Forfeit my return journey and buy a one way flight home (1.6-2k)
3. Once I get to Brazil, ask to change the flight(seems a bit too risky)

Basically i was told the availability of seats in my fare class are not available, and by seat class is not combinable with higher economy fare classes. It is about 15 days after the WC final, so the flights are a bit full and they are taking their chance to rip me off.

I am out of idea's, so I'm hoping someone can help.

    what are the conditions of the sale?.
    did it state, dates can not be changed ?

    all it said was [changes permitted - yes, refund - no, cancellation before: nul, cancellation after: nil ] somewhere in the fine print it says 'subject to availability'.

    you pay the return home a week later in full or miss your girlfriend being there without you. pretty simple. pay the money!

      yes - obviously.. but i was hoping someone on hear had a cheaper alternative.
