  • 9.0 hour? really?

I was browsing on a T100 and after 4 hours it was still 75% full so 9hours sounds quite possible.

I own one. Actually, it could be more depending on your usage. Just check out the reviews.

See Scotty's review OzBargain on Chromebooks

      So yeah 9 hours.

Good pick up..getting tempting at that price.

  • What do these stream video like? Are they any good to use like a wifi roku etc? I have quad core droid device, its a bit meh. Ive had an LG DP1W, it was good but had issues with some codecs, now wifi is dead on it. So Im looking for a replacement device.

Nevermind it's not included in the 10% off, classic.

I was going to buy one of these, but after searching around I ended up going for a second hand macbook for under $299. It runs well, fast, has a 12 hour battery life, came with microsoft office, and applecare.

    • Why secondhand when you can get a new product at the same price?

Because Macbooks will typically have better specs and more capability than a chromebook. Although it would be a pretty old MacBook for 300 dollars.

        • +2

Yes, it is a mid 2010 unibody macbook.

      • Because I needed Microsoft Office for work.

What exactly is Chromebook for? I couldn't see potential uses of it.

    • for browsing internet and some basic word processing :) pretty much like a tablet. You can install Linux I but with the added cost for SSD I don't think it's worth. I got my Acer S3 ultrabook which is lighter than the Asus Chromebook and a fully functional laptop for $450 back then which is a much better value than this. On top of that my ultrabook comes with 256GB SSD which cost about $200 at that time.

Getting that Acer S3 ultrabook with 256GB SSD for under $500 was a real bargain and good luck to you. I also was lucky enough to pick up an i5 ultrabook under $600, but these deals come and go and are not alway available in all places. This deal was good value, and available to anyone who can purchase online for $299 delivered Australia wide. I have recently bought the HP chromebook 14" to experiment with and I have to say I am very impressed with the speed of chrome with the new Haswel cpu/ssd setup and battery stamina is also the best I have ever had with a good solid 8 hrs surfing/playing vids with wifi on.

I use mine for surfing and viewing movies. Also for CLI access to servers. No word/spreadsheet/whatever processing, I escaped that burden long ago, ahahaha.

  • missed it!

Well you can pretty much use it as a replacement for a traditional computer or an ultrabook. I use mine for internet use/movies/tv shows, word processing and catching up on uni work if I had another computer I would be using it for the same so why not get something cheap and fast for less than $300
