Direct with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur with AIrasia*
Buy direct from air Asia's website.
Now thats being direct!! :)
Airasia / Jetstar always have Japan sales.
Japan Airlines or QANTAS, I hate having to stop off somewhere for hours (which if you go via AirAsia you're flying 7 hours the wrong way, then wait 4 hours or more for the connecting flight… then fly 7 hours back)
Unless of course you live in Perth, in which case AirAsia X is flying the right way with short stopover :P
JetStar has direct flights at (usually pretty good) prices if you don't like stopovers. They often have sales for about $700-900 return.
A bonus is they're not a terrible airline, pretty good service and such.
Direct Flights from Sydney (op's location) to where in Japan. I can only find flights via Cairns.
Still I prefer a stop over in Cairns rather than KL as there are more daily flights to Sydney with Jetstar than with AirAsiaX to Sydney from KL.
Maybe I was thinking of Melbourne (they do Melbourne-Tokyo direct now), but I could have sworn they had a direct Sydney fight.
Jetstar fly via Gold Coast and Cairns, they never have flown direct sydney to tokyo.
They have flown direct from Sydney to Osaka as I have used that flight before myself. Maybe they have now stopped?
I am going via Cairns in later this month to Osaka.
In June/July you have to go via Melb and Tokyo, a 3 stop flight, so its probably better to get off in Tokyo
Looks like Melb and Cairns are the only direct flights to Japan. Nothing for Sydney
Melb flight looks like its the dreamliner
direct with airasia.
