I've got all the right credit cards for my circumstances, but my parents are missing out. I wan't to set them up with the right mix of cards. What is currently the best deal?
Dad's a FIFO worker, gets lots of Qantas points.
Mum works at Bunnings and shops at Coles.
Is bunnings part of Coles Group. Could she use her staff discount to buy Coles Group gift cards???
I'd like to get them both the ME or ING card with 5% cash back on paywave but for the limited 6 months that the deal is valid at 5%, i don't think that they will actually use the damn things. They are stubborn, if it is too difficult to understand they wont bother.
So lets just focus on earning points. Which card offers the best QFF points? I was going to get dad the qantas cash card, but it only earns half a point per dollar spent in AU so doesn't seem that good. What other options are there?
As for mum I was thinking one that ties into her Coles spending and her flybuys card, like the Coles Mastercard? But I'm thinking it might be better to get one that links to QFF coz they both like a trip to Bali every couple years. Or maybe both?
Alternatively we could just get one card for dad linked to his QFF account, and get them to issue a second card for mum on the same account.
Also, don't know if I'm being greedy now, but one with the capability to automatically pay off the CC balance each month would be good, then the parents dont need to worry about interest.
And yes I know to get them the 28° or Citibank Card for travelling expenses..
So what would you suggest would be best for them to gain them the greatest benefit.
Also, as a side note, I know I can get 5% off Wish Gift Cards with RACWA, but where do you get the 5% off Coles cards??
Appreciate the advice.
Can you nudge your mum over to shopping at woolworths? Their "rewards" are QFF points.
The Qantas American Express Discovery Card gives you 1 QFF point per dollar spent; and has no annual fee. Can't use Amex everywhere - but Coles and Woolies both take it.
