Cosmetic Dentistry for Teeth Whitening

Hi OzB,

Im treating myself to get my chompers done and was wondering what teeth whitening process and dentist they used? (If in bris) Yes im aware of home made kits, and im okay to splash the cash to get it professionally done for peace of mind.

Can anyone share their experiences?

Cheers

You'll find that most practices only offer one form of whitening system which includes usually a professional in chair bleaching (zoom, pola) followed by custom take home kit. Some places only do take home ones. I've had zoom done and my teeth were quite sensitive after so need to be prepared for that. Just to note the in chair sessions simply give you faster results and generally still need topping up with a home kit. You can basically achieve the same result in the end with a take home kit but you just need bit more patience with that.

    • Hi,

Thanks for the reply. With sensitivity how long did that last? And did you achieve a nice white shade or does it come out hollywood white?

      More questions..
When did you get it done?
      Has the whiteness lasted?
      Costs?

      Thank you very much.

  • More sessions in the chair = more whiteness.

Take home kit causes sensitivity, but it fades with time. Just use sensitivity toothpast in the interim.

  • I think you should check with the dentist so you'd know what's really best for you, because I see some clinics offering different treatments like this one - http://www.freedomdental.com.au/teeth-whitening.aspx

I'm not so patient about doing treatments myself, so I just let the expert do the whitening for me. Haven't tried other procedures yet, but I've also been thinking of trying a home kit soon.
