Vehicle Shape - Honda Odyssey 2002 - Van or Wagon?

  • bought a Honda Odyssey 4 months back in NSW
  • the car was originally from Vic and was registered in NSW in 2010
  • Vic registration states the vehicle as station wagon (I have all paper work from day 1)
  • When it was registered in NSW it was put as a Van (no idea why)
  • Honda documentation also refers this vehicle as a Station Wagon

What is the vehicle shape of 2002 Odyssey? Van or Station Wagon?

The reason I ask is because for Green slip insurance a Van will cost me $800 and Station Wagon will only cost $600.

Any odyssey owners from NSW ? What is the Vehicle shape in your rego paper?

Please help. Heading to RTA tomorrow.

I vote wagon, too. It's a people mover without doubt (unless all the seats have been stripped out and it's being used as a van - as I've seen people do lol).

    The RMS/RTA site states:

    Passenger Vehicles:
Motor vehicles that are built to carry people. Includes sedans, station wagons, coupes, convertibles.

So I'd say station wagon. Can't see how they could debate it as a van. Let us know how it goes anyway! :)

    • Thanks Mate for your feedback.

I have the Vic Motor Registry papers to backup my claim. Will update tomorrow.

      • Got to the RTA site, type RVD (road vehicle descriptor) into the search bar, click first link, on the left click on 'Post 1999', put in your car details & all the answers you seek shall be at your mercy! :)

        • Wagon!!! YES! Thanks!

Welcome to RTA NSW, you should be glad they didn't classify it as a tank

My 2005 Honda Odyssey is registered as FCV ( Forward Control Passenger Vehicle)in NSW

    • Yes, I saw that class in a RTA doc along with the picture of a Tarago.

  • Update: RTA refused to update the body shape without a blue slip inspection. So I had to pay from my own funds. The mechanic classified the vesicle as a wagon.
    - Blue Slip $60
    - RTA Rego Savings : approx $50
    - Green Slip savings : $200
The mechanic said my previous info was all totally incorrect.
