Prepaid SIM cards + usage for a week

Hi all,

I have some visitors coming in from overseas next month. Does anyone know what's a good value sim card to get at the moment? They will be here for a week and will need some light calls/sms and data plan. Maybe medium data, as most people probably use more data than calls these days.

Are there any specials on prepaid sim cards at the moment for any of the carriers?

Thanks.

  • Hellomobile had a $19.95 sim for one month - unlimited calls and 3-4GB of data I think. It is their $40 plan marked down to $19.95 for the first month. I think amaysim also had the same.
Hellomobile is good service but it is on the vodafone network.

  • How about yatangomobile which operates on optus 4G. They have first month free trial (include 600 mins of call, 600 SMs and 1GB data) without obligation to continue…

    • Hey, that sounds good. Might go with that. Like I always say, free is a good price.. :)

    • You trumped me on that one!

    • Isn't there a $10 SIM charge if you are getting a new number? See the faint print at the bottom. Of course if you have an idle SIM you can port over, you get it free.

    • Just realised that they charge $10 for new signups.. but free for ported numbers. I guess it is time to use those unused free sims I got from OzB bargains over the years.. haha..

  • Could Optus $2 days be an option? I seem to recall recently it now comes with 500 MB data a day too.

    • Good option but since OPs relatives are going to stay for a week, he'll end up paying 2 * 7 = $14 for each relative each week.

  • $10 boost prepaid cards are available on ebay for under $4 they give you unlimited calls sms and mms +500mb of data for 5 days .maybe use 2 of these.
