Suggest putting price in title :)

Good price but I imagine the old Tegra 3 is getting pretty long in the tooth?

    • yep, over priced for what became a slooow tablet with 4.2.1 upgrade.
Pity as the dock makes it great to sit int he kitchen

      • If you've still got it and don't use it, you should try a custom rom like Cromi-X. My TF300T still runs like a pro for an old tablet. I actually do a lot of coding and development and a bit of gaming on it.
Alternatively, I'll happily take it off your hands :)

        • Cool… I might try this… do you have TF300T specific instructions you can point me to?

        • Well it's been a while, but I think I did Step 1 and 2 from here, then installed TWRP following [UNLOCKED BL]— Installing TWRP (Recovery) here and then flashed Cromi-X from here
If you're new to Custom Roms I would do a bit of research into it before you go for it, as some people have been known to brick their devices (never happened to me though).

  • Pretty good price since it includes the dock and 3G.

    • CUT RISK WARNING:

      • A refurb'd & Resealed ASUS tablet -may- have bits of sharp metal protruding just enough to cut your skin, although not necessarily far enough to be visible with the eyes.

Mine has done, and not just once!

Apply a file to remove any such sharp metal bits,
possibly putting at risk any remaining warranty.

(Yes, we should have returned our "sharp-enough-to-cut"
ASUS tab when we had the chance… but THEY should've
removed such risks, ie, BEFORE releasing it for sale.)

I'd urge you to TEST the feel of the Keyboard before buying.

Ours sucked, compared to any of the aftermarket k/b's we tried.

ALSO: What's the BATTERY warranty for these. (Was battery replaced?)

Before evaluating the relative value of this deal,
if you could (or would PREFER to) get by w/ a Desktop sys:

        • compare what you'd get here to what you can have, ie,
in an AOC all-in-one system (even the A2272PWHT), eg:
21.5" multi-touch screen, etc. (Recent Deal Price $249
          plus S&H)

        "Don't settle" : Steve Jobs

Disclaimer: I am NOT recommending any Apple product here

(I'm for reserving "less than optimal" oldies for computer museums; don't force 'em on your kids. ;-)

      • I found the keyboard a bit squishy and ctrl and shift keys too awkward. Good advice

  • I don't recommend ASUS tablets. I've got a TF201, which is still pretty powerful, stuck on Jellybean as ASUS is no longer updating the device since 2012. Really regret buying it.

    • No third party ROMs?

      • I stuffed it up and bricked it at first (my fault didn't save blob file). Cost me $160 bucks and 2 MONTHS to have it fixed, because the tool is not available online (Samsung's is).
Now I am trying to Unlock it but the ASUS unlocking tool won't work, at all. It relies on connecting to ASUS servers… which are never available, as I have tried dozens of times. There is no way to root it locked up.
It's a shame as it is a beautiful device, and it could operate like a dream on CyanogenMod.

        • Hmm, I had no issues unlocking the bootloader and getting Cromi-X on there… Just followed the tutorials on xda. Still runs like a dream 80% of the time.
Althought that was TF300T, not TG.

  • Does (DOCKING) mean that it can be docked if you buy the keyboard/dock separately or that the dock is included?

    • It's included with this

  • yeah Tegra3 is not going to cut it beyond 4.3, even stock clean install rom will lag, and testing out custom roms didnt improve much, its just the software getting heavy

  • Docking mean it's included Keyboard,

  • Specs are a bit old to even consider throwing some dollars to this.

Disagree… depends what you want to do.. I have two of these and by far the best value tablet when I got them a year or so ago.. keyboard dock is great to extend the battery time.. kids use them in the car on long trips and plays all the games they like fine (younger kids to be fair).. I have heaps of zinio mags and the odd game on mine and of course can easily do FB, Gmail, etc… $250 for a 3G version is not bad at all and thinking about getting this and handing my non 3G version to my son. Full size SD slot as well in the dock so I can pull the card out of my DSLR and review the pics plus connect via remote apps to my 6D no worries. Sure I would it to be a bit faster but 90% of the time it is fine.

Good price but this is a 2012 model, a bit old
Please check your "what I want to do with it" list and make sure it is up to the job

    I will pass this one

I bought one back in 2012 for $283 using OW price match
Found it pretty basic, couldn't even stream HD videos so I sold it.
Going to neg it because $249 for a 2 year old refurbished Android netbook isn't really a bargain.

    • +4

Er in 2012 there was nothing basic about the TF300, it was cutting edge, very light and one of the first to sport the Tegra 3 quadcore.

If you can't stream HD maybe your netz is too slow. The Tegra3 plays HD video no problem!

It isn't a netbook, its a tablet and despite its age it was in a class of its own for a while there.

Bit unfair to neg on your perception. As far as I can see its still the cheapest of this product out there, for the person that wants one its a bargain.

      • I didn't say it couldn't play, I said it couldn't stream even at 20Mbps. Browsers would hang, multitask would start to lag and so on. Anyway, each to their own. I didn't like it FWIW.

  • 2 years for a tablet is like 10 for a car !! Even the Nexus 10 has an update due.

Apps are heavier than 2 years ago. Unless you use old facebook/gmail/etc apps , the new ones consume more resources and memory. Current devices have 1/2gb ram

If the dock is compatible with newer Asus tablets I would consider it.

    • Yea all the latest games would suck on this, but it has great battery life with the dock which makes it a great media consumption device and a lot more useful with. 3G(which cost quite a bit more compared to the wifi model)

    • +1

      The TF300 has 1Gb of DDR3 RAM

  • +2

I have one of these that I bought in 2012.
I use it every day to stream video (including HD) from my PC to watch, works fine every time.
I play some games on it (mainly Crazy Taxi).
It is fine, not sure why all the hate.
    Then again haters gonna hate…
