Singapore in July

Flying to Singapore for two people at the start of July and returning to Melbourne after two weeks

When would be the best time to buy tickets and where?

I searched Kayak.com and the cheapest right now seems to be around $750 at Jetstar but I've heard stories of a lot cheaper…

  • Airasia then use option town to try get an upgrade to business class!

  • Flying Melbourne to Singapore from 2nd July to 17th July.

I checked Kayak for flights but they seem so expensive compared to what I've heard from others about flights been really cheap.

The cheapest seem to be Jetstar for $758 but that arrives at Singapore at 16:50 which is too late for us. We need to be able to check into the hotel in the afternoon.

The next cheapest at $850-900 is a Malaysia Airlines but we don't to fly that due to recent events…

Finally we get to Singapore Airlines which is ~$1200. This is perfect because it leaves Melbourne at night and arrives to Singapore in the morning at 6AM which allows us time to travel around before we check into the hotel. However it is so expensive!

I'm wondering is there a cheaper option that I don't know about yet.

    Thanks.

    • Upon having a quick look you correct. You have chosen a damn expensive time to fly. (I'll be flying to sri lanka/kl/singapore at the same time but i booked it in feb) I'll keep looking for dodge ways to get there..

      • To be honest the only cheap way to get there would be Tiger Air to Sydney then Scoot to Singapore.. and that will still cost you about $1100 for the both of you. ($50 MEL > Sydney each then $219 to singapore then $259 to get back then $50 to get back to Melbourne)

If you sign up for tiger infrequent flyers on thursday/friday at midnight you will end up paying under $500 each return because the leg of the trip to sydney would be free.
