How to record Phone Calls from a Landline? Technology question..?

I run a home based business where I do some consulting, and speak to clients. They describe me their issues over the phone and I get back to them with solutions. Ocassional face to face meetings.

I'd like to record these calls for review and record, with their permission of course. My question is technology related,

How do you record calls initiated from LandLines?

I have a TPG landline and a standard Panasonic cordless phone. Are there any handsets that can do this for me ?

I can do that on my Android mobile, but talking long calls from the Mobile is getting expensive on airtime.

Requesting a recording from the NSA / ASIO is not an option

  • if you are on the cheap and your phone is beside the computer/laptop, set up your mic on your pc/laptop and free software for recording…. put your cordless phone on speaker phone mode.

edit: plenty of ebay solutions too.

    • Thanks thought about it , but the speaker phone is not a good option, TPG quality is already pretty bad. This will make it worse.

Plug it into your computer's microphone and make you recording device. Lets say audacity or something listen/record it

    • Thank you Shadow,
This thing looks interesting, Have you used anything like it before?

How do we do the Audacity bit? and how does the computer know to start saving the recording automatically ? Is this automatic recording something that audacity can do?

Set up a PABX and you can record it. If you're not on the cheap!
